Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is hiring a Head of Strategic Program Management based in Dubai.
The Opportunity
Has primary leadership responsibility for leading program management efforts for Infection Diseases portfolio. Leads other program managers and directors in setting strategic objectives to achieve desired results. This includes determining portfolio level plans, budgets, scope, and risks for future and existing platforms, products, and features. Provides leadership to cross-functional teams for complex portfolio development and the commercialization of new products. Manages resources across the portfolio to ensure that programs meet milestones and deliverables. Works cross-functionally with core team and functional managers to ensure that programs meet objectives and timelines. Represents the core team to the organization, reports team progress, program recommendations and resolutions of issues at senior staff meetings.
Leads at least 1 highly complex platform development program (includes development of new or novel instrument hardware, software, reagent/assay, and consumable).
Direct accountability for project definition and execution; defines deliverables and exit requirements for each of the phases (Ideation, Concept, Feasibility, Development, Validation, Launch); Development, Ownership and Accountability of Timeline, Critical Path Activities, Risks and Assumptions.
Collaborates with other program managers and across the ARDx BU's to share progress and gain input to leverage platform advantages across the business; works with functional teams to ensure product is developed for appropriate market needs with applied DfX principles to meet company sustainability objectives.
Translates strategies into program/project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements; continually tracks progress against those plans.
Develops and sets annual project goals (Products, financial performance, milestones, critical success factors); integrates this into ID Executive S&OP cycle and provides updates at required frequency.
Responsible for all reporting activities associated with program, responsible for collecting and collating all inputs from cross-functional teams to support project reviews with leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Determines and manages appropriate governance structure for program.
Guides functional workstream leads (project managers) to identify and escalate project risks and communicate status to internal and external stakeholders.
Establishes and leads proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the senior leadership team, program/project teams, and matrix stakeholders.
Cost Centre Ownership for Program under responsibility including development of annual forecast and reporting against actuals on a monthly basis.
Completes capacity assessment (people, financial measures) and ability to meet plans and timelines. Highlights gaps and resolves with functional leaders.

Major/Field of Study
In related Engineering discipline.
In Business or Technology preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience/Background
Minimum 15 years relevant experience.
Progressively responsible experience in engineering or related technical discipline.
Must have a minimum of 12 years' experience leading projects in a medical device, biomedical or high technology industry.
Prefer extensive medical device industry experience.
Prefer 8 years' experience directly managing technical staff.
Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall.
Experienced managing with ambiguity; demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems, exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate course of action where precedent may not exist.
An approachable and credible communication style, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills; to keep all levels of the organization informed, engaged and motivated.
Skilled change agent with experience aligning a geographically-dispersed team around a vision and strategy and creating a sense of urgency to execute the strategy and deliver on commitments.
Intellectual agility - able to pivot based on shifting priorities and balance multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent collaboration skills - able to navigate complex matrix within the Business Unit and the broader Abbott organization to ensure alignment of priorities and partnership throughout program execution.
