Job Summary:

The Mud Engineer (HPHT Specialist) is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing drilling fluid systems for HPHT well operations. This includes ensuring the stability, safety, and efficiency of mud programs to control well pressure, enhance drilling rate, and minimize formation damage. This position requires expertise in HPHT drilling fluid systems, in-depth knowledge of fluid chemistry, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced training in drilling fluid technology or HPHT drilling is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Mud Engineer, with at least 3 years in HPHT environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in HPHT mud systems, including oil-based mud (OBM), synthetic-based mud (SBM), and water-based mud (WBM) systems.
    • Knowledge of fluid testing procedures, mud additives, rheology, and well control principles.
    • Familiarity with drilling fluid software and HPHT-specific testing equipment.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in remote, high-stress environments.
  • Certifications: Valid well control certification (e.g., IWCF, IADC) is required. Specialized HPHT training is preferred.
