JOB DESCRIPTIONWood's Asset Life Optimisation business has established a global vibration, dynamics and noise (VDN) capability. Encompassing 200+ engineering specialists in 11 offices worldwide, the VDN team work closely to help our customers meet their reliability, integrity, and operational performance goals.Wood VDN provide engineering solutions and services that improve machinery and piping system reliability and assist our Oil & Gas, Mining and Utilities clients to achieve optimal and safe production. Currently we have openings for early career or Graduate Engineers (Vibration) to develop their static equipment and machinery expertise and to work in the VDN team based in our Abu Dhabi office. This position will report to the VDN Head of Department.Learn to quantify and solve complex piping dynamics problems using state of the art field measurement equipment and sophisticated computer modelling techniques or be involved in designing reliable and efficient machinery systems. Utilize your problem-solving skills to assist our engineering teams analyse and recommend solutions for complex machinery and piping problems. The successful well-organized candidates will be technically adept team players. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical engineering skills and understanding of dynamic piping behaviour and machinery under the direct mentorship of our professional engineers. You will be a member of a team of experts and interact with our global customer base.RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral

  • Work alongside and consult with client personnel at Wood premises, client premises and on site throughout all stages of projects.
  • Contribute to deliverables and all other reportage/analysis required for engineering projects under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Develop analysis skills and complete tasks using the various simulation packages used by Wood (FEA, CFD, acoustic, surge analysis etc.).
  • Develop the ability to use field measurement equipment including transducers, analysers, and various accessories.
  • Assist with the production of technical papers and articles for publication in peer reviewed journals and technical publications. Attend conferences and seminars and where possible, develop the ability to present original papers and technical presentations.
  • Develop an understanding and complete Qualitative and Quantitative Energy Institute 'Guidelines for the Avoidance of Vibration Induced Fatigue Failure in Process
  • Pipework' vibration screening assessments of process plant.
  • Assist senior engineers in the completion of field vibration, dynamic stress, dynamic pressure, and noise measurements as required (at onshore and offshore sites worldwide) with a view to developing sufficient competence to carry out field assessments unsupervised.
  • Completing Acoustic Induced Vibration (AIV) stage 1, 2 and 3 assessments.
  • Design of anti-vibration supports and production of fabrication diagrams using 3D CAD tools.
  • Assist the Static Equipment Team lead and develop competence in static equipment
  • Assist the machinery team lead and develop competence in machinery assessment.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
  • Suitable Mechanical Engineering (or process engineering) degree and education.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Flexibility: Able to travel to global site locations at short notice.
  • Problem Solving: Good problem-solving skills using a logical and creative approach to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Communication: Capable communicator able to present project results and group competencies to existing and potential clients.
  • Commercial awareness: Able to confidently manage day to day budgets and progress reporting on engineering projects.
  • Business and Industry Experience:
  • Previous experience working in process industries is desirable.
