Site Safety Manager
Job details
- Develop and enforce safety policies tailored to the specific site conditions and regulations, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
- Conduct thorough site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Provide ongoing safety training and workshops for all employees, fostering a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution phases.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes, documenting findings and recommending systemic changes to improve safety protocols.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during safety inspections, ensuring all necessary documentation and compliance records are maintained.
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure all personnel are prepared for potential incidents.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, highlighting areas for improvement and successful initiatives.
- Champion the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its proper usage across the site through regular checks and training.
- Stay updated on industry trends and safety regulations to continuously enhance the site’s safety programs and ensure best practices are followed.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is essential.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is highly preferred to demonstrate expertise.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in safety management, ideally within construction or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with OSHA regulations and compliance requirements; familiarity with local and international safety standards is a plus.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional languages is a valuable asset for diverse teams.
- Strong technical skills in safety management software and auditing tools are necessary for effective reporting and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for training staff and conducting safety meetings effectively.
- High attention to detail and analytical skills to assess risks and implement appropriate safety measures effectively.
- Physical fitness and resilience are important, as the role requires regular site visits and the ability to respond to emergencies.
