We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.OverviewWe are seeking a Petrophysics and Core Analysis to join the Exploration Core Laboratories Division of Geological Operations Department.The Exploration Core Laboratories Division is responsible for providing Laboratory Petrophysicist or Core Analyst with extensive knowledge, skill and experience in the fields of petrophysics, geology, geochemistry, mineralogy and petrography. The successful candidate will work on different types of rocks and minerals to drive a state-of-the-art lab experimental facility, involving the planning, supervision and management of laboratory petrophysical, digital imaging and rock testing instruments. Integration of results with petrography, digital rock analysis, mineralogy, sedimentology, chemostratigraphy, radiometric dating, biostratigraphy, etc. is required to provide analysis of core and cuttings data in terms of their physical properties, facies, sedimentary architecture, isopach and depositional environment. Of primary interest is an ability to assess and integrate internal rock fabrics (structural physical properties), petrophysical properties and mineralogy to support reservoir characterization and calibration of rock attributes. The individual will be expected to have an ability and willingness to mentor co-workers and young professionals in applying petrophysical and image analysis principles to a wider geological understanding. The Geological Specialist primary role is to provide advance petrophysical support by utilizing petrography, clastic sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, and have knowledge of wireline logs and well testing.Duties & ResponsibilitiesYou will be required to perform the following:

  • Assess managing lab data planning, acquisition and interpretation programs for various types of petrophysical lab instruments.
  • Provide advanced geological studies to support long- and short-term Saudi Aramco operations.
  • Provide Rock samples selection to characterize rock heterogeneity.
  • Assess CCAL and SCAL data acquisition, quality control and interpretation.
  • Perform quantitative-based data analysis in digital formats.
  • Assess preparation detailed reports in multiple formats.
  • Perform data integration with lab results; e.g., petrography, digital rock analysis, downhole well logs, well tests, etc. Assess mentoring and technical coaching young professionals and laboratory technicians.
  • Provide collaborating effectively with other team members within a multidisciplinary Group.
  • Assess ongoing collaboration with industry leaders on the evolution of new techniques and technologies.
Minimum RequirementsAs the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelors degree in Geology from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree in Petrophysics is essential and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by a Master's Degree or a Ph. D degree. You will have ten years' experience in laboratory petrophysical or core analysis, including at least 7 years in Petrophysicist or Core analysis.
  • Familiarity with different types of rock analysis instruments, including conventional (porosity, permeability, grain density) and special (mercury injection capillary pressures, nuclear magnetic resonance, whole core computed tomography, X-ray fluorescence and diffraction, 3D X-ray microscopy, etc.) core analysis is preferred.
  • Expertise in acquisition, QC and use of core-derived petrophysical properties (special and standard) is requirement. Geological software skills (Petrel, TechLog, Geolog, OpenWorks / DSS) are preferred.
  • Expertise in the machine learning and AI technologies application for geological rock samples data interpretation and integration is requirement.
  • Peer-reviewed, published scientific articles in petrophysics, special and conventional core analysis and/or digital imaging is a plus is necessary.
  • You must have hands-on experience with advanced image analysis tools (ZEN, Atlas, PerGeos, GeoDict, DragonFly, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Core to wireline log data integration and interpretation is required. Ability to promote open and effective communication is preferred.
