Overview

We are seeking a CO2 Storage Geoscientists to join Western Area & Strategic Exploration Department. The Western Area & Strategic Exploration Department (WA&SED) responsible for the hydrocarbon & non-hydrocarbon resources through strategic & sustainable exploration programs that integrate the best talent, optimal processes and leading-edge technologies in a safe and cost-effective manner. A qualified candidate will be part of a competent team of geoscientists, work collaboratively to maintain a healthy portfolio for CO2 storage. Technical responsibilities include all aspects of advanced data analysis, characterization, and 3D Modeling by utilizing available geological, geophysical, petrophysical, fracture analysis and Dynamic modeling data to evaluate and generate numerical sink models for CO2 Storage, whether in Saline aquifers or sequestration in mafic/ultramafic hard rocks.

Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate will be required to perform the following:

  • Generate Numerical Subsurface Models by utilizing all the available G&G data, geomechanical, petrophysical, and dynamic data to identify and quantify CO2 Storage sinks, Injectivity Assessment, Seal Integrity, and Depth Evaluation under Uncertainty and Risk Considerations. Evaluate Trapping mechanisms including Structural, stratigraphic, Residual, Solubility, and Mineral trapping
  • Perform 3D Structural, stratigraphic, Petrophysical, and Fluid Saturation Modeling by incorporating leading-edge methodologies and workflows.
  • Build Geomechanical Models for Discrete Fracture Network incorporating Rock and Field Stress analysis for full evaluation of Ground Deformation, Fault Reactivation, induced seismicity, and fracture propagation.
  • Evaluate leakage risk associated to static geological properties and dynamic conditions in time.
  • Perform Volumetric uncertainty analysis under uncertainty.

Minimum Requirements

  • As a successful candidate, you would need to hold a bachelor or higher degree in Geology or Geophysics.
  • 15 years of experience in formation description, characterization and geomodeling of Clastic and Carbonate reservoirs with demonstrated track record associated to CCS Projects.
  • Ability to integrate all available Geological, Geophysical, Petrophysical, Sedimentological, and reservoir engineering information for advance 3D Geological Modeling for reservoir architecture, Volumetric analysis and flow behavior.
  • Familiar with Software solutions for Interpretation and Integration of all geological, geophysical, geomechanical, and dynamic data (DSG, Petrel, RMS, Petrosys, Geolog, Teclog, etc).
  • Ability to generate a 3D geological model for sink characterization, for CO2 Saline aquifers or Carbon chemical mineralization in mafic/ultramafic rocks, utilizing limited sparse data with multiple scenarios, uncertainty analysis and risk analysis
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods necessary to distribute facies and petrophysical properties into a 3D geological model.
  • English language fluency with the capability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
