DentistPart-timeorfull-timeABOUTTHECENTREOfficiallyfounded in 1992, the Centre is a non-profit community-basedorganization that provides primary health care, social andcommunity services for the Francophone population of the Hamiltonand Niagara All our services are free andServices areoffered from two sites, one in Hamilton and one in Welland, whichalso serves as the administrativeTheCentre also offers programs and workshops in schools and communitycenters in both catchment areas, as well as home visiting servicesto families in need, and friendly visiting services to seniors andisolatedJOBPROFILEReportingto the Executive Director, the Dentist is responsible for providingclinical dental services for publicly-funded dental care programfor low-income seniors; providing clinical advice and direction tothe registered dental hygienist working in the clinic; recommendingand performing oral examinations; formulating treatment plans,informing/obtaining consent from clients and families of treatmentplans; liaising with community partners and external stakeholdersto promote oral health and access to our services; and developsprogram policies and ensures adherence to dental clinic policiesandMainresponsibilitiesClinicalTreatment ProgramFunctions:Providesa broad range of basic dental treatment, such as dentalrestorations, extractions, oral hygiene procedures, root canaltreatment on selectedPerformsemergency dentalMeets withpatients to discuss and treat dental concerns and establish a planforPrescribesappropriate medications and administers localOperatesdental x-ray machines, radiographic processor and interpretsEnsures proper x-ray quality assurance and safety, and the properdisposal of biohazard and/or environmentalMonitorsand performs infection prevention and control practices (IPAC) toensure patient safety following IPAC bestRecordsand ReportingFunctions:Verifiesand applies medical history prior to treatment by consulting withfamily members and physicians when Refers clients for medicaltesting ifReceivesreferrals from private dental and medical providers, and makesreferrals to other appropriate dental practices and Builds referralpathways with other dental and medicalKeeps andmaintains patient dentalQualityAssurance and Due DiligenceActivities:Recommendsand develops program policies and ensures implementation ofpolicies and procedures in a dentalProvidesclients with access to social/health/community resources, andcollaborates with the partnerLiaison,Communication and Customer ServiceActivities:Respondsto inquiries and resolves concerns, asEnsuresthat services provided meet Regional customer serviceParticipateson committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, asManagesinformation in accordance with legislation and corporateOtherDuties:Performsother duties asassignedMayoccasionally be required to respond to emergency situations outsideof normal business hours, as related to the Departmental EmergencyQualifications / skills/ specificrequirements:Successfulcompletion of a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from a universityrecognized by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario andeligible to practice clinical dentistry inMinimumthree (3) years experience in working in a clinical dental practicetreatingMust be acurrent member in good standing with the Royal College of DentalSurgeons ofStronginterpersonal and communication skills and the ability to workcooperatively with staff andAbility tocommunicate orally and in writing in French andComprehensiveknowledge of dental procedures, tools andKnowledgeand demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies includingcommunication, teamwork and collaboration, and personalComputerliteracy utilizing MS Office softwareAbility totravel to off site locations in a timely and efficient manner, asAbility towork outside regular business hours, asHave avalid drivers license and access to a motorA validfirst aid and CPR certificate would be anProvide acriminal record check including the vulnerable sectorProof ofCOVID-19 vaccination (or medical ticket for exemption) will berequested at the time ofBenefitsDentalInsuranceDisabilityInsuranceHealthInsuranceLifeInsuranceMinimum three (3) years experience in working in a clinical dentalpractice treating Ability to communicate orally and in writing inFrench and INT
