QLDC is at the very heart ofthe community, employing over 600 employees and has a strong commitment overthe next decade to meet the demands of the fast-growing resident and visitorneeds.QLDC is a significant part of thedistrict's economy and has a strong focus on delivering great outcomes forresidents and ratepayers and a sustainable, high quality visitor experience.While conscious of the current challenges to the Community and the touristeconomy, the Council remains committed to delivering on key projects for thefuture.About the RoleThe GM Assurance, Finance andRisk is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team leading delivery acrossall aspects of finance, legal, risk, procurement and regulatoryactivities. This is both a strategic andhands-on role at times and key responsibilities include the:Whileconscious of the current challenges to the Community and the tourist economy,the Council remains committed to delivering on key projects for the future.Provision of strategic and operational financialplanning and reporting across all aspects of operations, and acting as ChiefFinancial Officer;Leadership of the Council's long-term plan andannual plan, with on-going monitoring and reporting to management, CE andCouncil;Delivery of effective regulatory services toresidents and businesses in the district;Overseeing of legal services across the council;Development of a risk and compliance culture,embedding strong levels of assurance across all statutory, regulatory, legaland policy compliance requirements.Leading a high performing team of4 direct reports and over 60 team members, this is a high energy environmentfocussed on ensuring activities are service-centric, customer-focused,efficiently run, and represent value for money for ratepayers, meeting theneeds of the community.Aboutthe PersonYou will be a CharteredAccountant holding a senior role, with substantial experience leading teams ina large, complex organisation, requiring strategic impact, financial acumen andmanagement of multiple stakeholder pressures, ideally in a local or centralgovernment environment. You will:Preferably have proven experience as a ChiefFinancial Officer;Have a strong track record managing stakeholderrelationships successfully;Have high credibility and experience as atrusted advisor working with Councillors;Have demonstrated strong political awareness,business acumen and strategic agility;Be degree qualified, with MBA or Post GraduateExecutive Development desirable;Be known as an excellent leader who relates wellto all kinds of people, builds rapport quickly, is easy to approach.This is a highly attractive andkey leadership opportunity, leading the culture that council values, ensuring asustainable and innovative future for an outstanding region.To apply by email, pleaseattach your cover letter and CV and send to cvchc@sheffield.co.nz quoting 8721lgj.
