Roles and Responsibilities

Independent learning as well as structured classroom and hands-on training. Training focused on safety and UOP technology, processes, and procedures by which UOP delivers technology to our customers. On the job training and value-added work in 3-4 rotational work assignments in Operations, Engineering, Technical Service, Digital, or Business groups. Soft skills training, including cultural awareness, conflict management, and communication courses.

Transfer to Field Operating Service

For a duration of at least 3-5 years. In Field Operating Service, you will be on international and domestic assignments. Some of the accountabilities are:
  1. Following all required safety procedures and adhering to FOS, UOP, and Honeywell policies.
  2. Completing a detailed checkout of new UOP process units prior to initial startup in order to assure that the completed unit conforms to UOP specifications.
  3. Providing field technical assistance and field support for development activities in commercial units, and suggesting improvements on UOP process designs.
  4. Collecting and effective analysis of unit operating data and laboratory results.
  5. Advising customers on scheduling, procedures, normal operating variables, and response to emergency situations and unscheduled process changes, under the guidance of the Chief Technical Advisor if available.

Additional Qualifications

  1. Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically and reside onsite for long uninterrupted periods of time. (Typical assignments are four to six months but durations of one day to one year or more are possible.)
  2. Flexibility to work hours that are dictated by customer requirements and assignment scope.
  3. Strong customer focus, and the ability to work as part of a team.
  4. Ability to work in a physically challenging environment.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Chemical Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemical processes, reaction engineering, and thermodynamics to design and optimize production systems.
  2. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify problems in processes and develop effective solutions using analytical and critical thinking.
  3. Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing experimental and operational data to improve processes and ensure quality control.
  4. Technical Skills: Familiarity with chemical engineering software (such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or MATLAB) for modeling and simulation.
  5. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety standards and regulations to ensure compliance and promote safe practices in the workplace.
  6. Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating resources to meet deadlines.
  7. Research and Development: Skills in conducting research to develop new products or improve existing processes.
  8. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with other engineers, scientists, and stakeholders.
  9. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to present findings, write reports, and interact with diverse audiences.
  10. Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated on advancements in chemical engineering and related fields to enhance knowledge and skills.
