This position is primarily responsible for managing VAT, Corporate Taxation & Regulatory Compliance for Aldar Education. Responsibilities Main Duties:- Researching, analysing and interpreting changing tax legislation in both inside UAE and in GCC.
- Working with tax laws in UAE and update the changes to the management.
- Responsible for Corporate Tax implementation in co-ordination with Tax experts within Aldar Group and external parties.
- Responsible to maintain AE group tax profile up to date with tax regulatory authorities.
- Responsible for Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for Aldar Education entities.
- Point of contact for any compliance requirements from tax regulators and ADEK.
- Responsible for Internal and External audit queries for the areas under the purview of this job role.
- Prepare input and output registers (payables and receivables), reconcile with the actual invoices and GL balances and ensure the VAT calculation is accurate and in compliance with the FTA law.
- Initiate the registration of new legal entities under AE VAT group, submit amendments whenever applicable and submit the required documents to FTA to keep the account information up to date.
- Responsible for VAT filing on a monthly and quarterly basis for the VAT groups and claim VAT refunds from FTA on a timely manner.
- Providing accounting and clerical support to ensure that financial transactions are in compliance with VAT regulations.
- Prepare and manage all documents in line with VAT regulations and other related activities.
- Handle VAT audit requirements from FTA.
- Maintain controls by adhering to the accounting department's policies and procedures and ensure Tax practices are in compliance with UAE financial reporting statutes, standards and financial reporting best practices.
- Conduct day-to-day transactional processing and reporting on taxation. This includes the accurate posting of all tax related entries.
- Work closely with internal and external advisors to successfully implement new corporate tax for the AE group across all regions within the GCC.
- Ensure compliance with the international taxation policies and transfer pricing legislation in all regions where the organisation operates. Recommend suggestions to facilitate business processes.
- Accurately file corporate income tax compliance in accordance with country specific requirements in a timely manner.
- Ensure to review and ensure tax provision/balances are accurate in the General Ledger accounts.
- Provide training to the team to ensure the team abide to tax compliance laws.
- Ensure to review the gaps identified as part of Risk Assessment, work with the stakeholders to resolve them to ensure 100% compliance with the regulatory requirements (ADAA).
- Finance point of contact for Internal Audit requirements with regards to risk assessment and responsible to resolve all gaps on a timely manner by providing evidence.
- Point of contact for ADEK regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance.
- Professional Tax Qualification is highly desirable.
- 5-8 years of experience within a tax role is MUST.
- Implementation of VAT and Corporate Tax is must.
- Expert in taxation and able to provide guidance to the management and finance team.
- Strong team management negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of working with large amounts of data. Advanced knowledge of excel is mandatory.
- Strong analytical and presentational skills.
- Deadline oriented with excellent organizational ability, of self and extended team.
- Capable of influencing people and talented in networking with cultural sensitivity.
