Job Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Head Teacher for our Early Years department. The ideal candidate will support the Head of Early Years in leading and managing the Foundation Stage team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and care for children aged 3-5 years. They will have a strong understanding of early childhood development theories and practices. This role involves promoting a nurturing learning environment, implementing curriculum standards, and fostering strong relationships with children, parents, and staff. Key Relationships (Internal and External): Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Department Heads, Early Years Students and Parents, Admissions Manager, External Agencies and Service Providers, Early Years Teachers and Support Staff, Education Managers Key Accountabilities:

Maintain an “outstanding” rating in the Foundation Stage on local and international inspections.
Involve all Early Years staff in systematic, rigorous self-evaluation with the explicit purpose of improving the quality of students’ experiences and their standards of attainment.
Monitor the performance of all teaching and support staff in the Foundation Stage.
Ensure that self-evaluation provides valid, comprehensive, and reliable analysis for identifying key priorities for the preparation of the improvement plan and involves Early Years staff, parents, and students as appropriate.
Ensure that all recommendations from previous inspections and evaluations are included in the schools’ improvement plans.
Develop a positive climate that embraces teamwork and collaboration among the staff and specialists.
Track and assess student performance.
Create supervision and other rosters as appropriate, including supply teaching needs.
Ensure the Learning Assistants are active members of the community and are able to work effectively with their respective teachers and students.
Assist and lead with the induction for new staff.
Mentor, support and develop all staff in the Foundation Stage, including performance management/appraisal of teachers.
Ensure that there is consistency, coordination, good communication and high standards throughout the Foundation Stage.
Foster positive relationships with parents and engage them in their child’s education.
Organise community events and workshops to promote learning in the early years.
Support with planning, assessment, recording and reporting procedures.
Cooperate and communicate effectively with other leaders and colleagues in curriculum matters and other aspects of school wide impact.
Determine the Professional Development needs of the Foundation Stage team in collaboration with the wider Senior Leadership Team.
Ensure effective transition occurs between FS1-FS2 and FS2-Year 1.
Uphold and promote child safeguarding practices within the Early Years environment.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Undertake other tasks as may be determined from time-to-time.
