Instrumentation Controls and Automation Engineer
Dubai, UAE Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Instrumentation Controls and Automation Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to design instrumentation, controls and automation systems for a variety of types of applications such as water, wastewater, storm drainage pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, and Metro systems. What You'll Be Doing:- Performs conventional and moderately-complex Instrumentation, control and Automation system engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected.
- Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
- Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, specifications, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
- Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
- May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.
- Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. Having experience of working in AutoCAD and MicroStation software environment.
- Prepares specifications and technical design reports, carries out the calculations and all other documents required for Instrumentation and automation of small to medium-sized systems such as Irrigation, Drainage, Fire and Sewage pump stations, Water treatment plants, sea water RO plant, and Sewage Treatment Plants.
- Experience in selection of instruments and automation systems as per the required applications.
- Experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA/DCS/BMS systems.
- Experience in PLC programming and preparing control system architectures.
- Experience in P & ID, Operation and control philosophy, I/O data point schedules, BMS, Low current systems, Interlock and logic diagrams, Loop diagrams, cause and effect schedules, Functional Design Specifications, detailed layouts and defining cable containment requirements for ICA systems.
- Experience in HAZOP studies/classifications.
- Support in progress meetings/communication with contractors, consultants, and authorities.
- Ensure safety is followed in design and quality process is in compliance with specification, requirement of the project and company processes.
- Ensure the design meets all relevant international codes and local standards. When required, support in reviewing Contractor key shop drawings and major materials submittals.
- Liaise with other relevant disciplines for design coordination and maintain professional integrity.
- Experience of working with CAD/digital delivery team, understanding of drawing software such as Revit, AutoCAD etc.
- Experience in various automation engineering and programming software requirements for PLCs, DCS, DDC, BMS, SCADA system, HMI etc.
- Experience in sitewide Security, ICT network, data center designs, Control room IT active, passive network design and Fiber optic network knowledge is an added advantage.
- Experience in ELV system such as Public Wi-Fi, PA/BGM, Parking management systems, Digital Signage system is preferred.
- Capability to design the ICA and SCADA systems for Road and Metro Tunnels with relevant experience in design is preferable.
- Shall be fully conversant with Authority regulations such as DEWA, Dubai Municipality, RTA, DCD and/or other relevant authorities within the region.
- Shall support the preparation of detailed technical, commercial and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of various technical alternatives. Shall be able to prepare and deliver detailed technical PowerPoint presentations for the Clients. Shall have experience in preparing technical design reports with minimum support from the senior engineer.
- Shall be conversant with the international standards such as ASHRAE, ANSI, BS, CIBSE Guides, IEC standards, ISO Standards applicable for the ICA System designs.
- Shall have experience of liaising with Dubai Municipality for obtaining Approvals.
- Approval from Dubai Municipality / RTA would be added advantage.
- 4 years Bachelor’s Degree in electronics and instrumentation engineering or electrical and electronics engineering (with Instrumentation as Major or related disciplines). Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory. In addition, other specialist Training Certificate may be required.
- Should have at least 15 years’ experience in designing/engineering and instrumentation and control systems.
- Should have experience in design instrumentation, controls and automation systems for a variety of types of applications such as water, wastewater, storm drainage pump stations, Wastewater treatment plants, oil & gas plants and metro systems.
- Experience in various automation engineering and programming software requirements for PLCs, DCS, DDC, BMS, SCADA system, HMI etc.
