Position : Director of Archaeological Sites and Research Department Client : Dubai Government Location : Dubai Job Purpose Supervising, coordinating and directing archaeological activities during archaeological surveys and excavation projects, planning and coordinating Archaeological projects, including budget development and research preparation. Key Responsibilities - Functional
  1. Management and general supervision of the archaeological sites and research affiliated with the Authority in accordance with the strategic and operational plan and approved financial budgets.
  2. Participate in issuing legislation related to the preservation of antiquities by developing policies and regulatory procedures to identify and register antiquities locally and globally.
  3. Participate in the development and implementation of projects, programs and initiatives aimed at developing archaeological sites, research and preserving them.
  4. Strengthen relations with partners and establish strategic partnerships in the field of antiquities in the country to promote archaeological sites and research.
  5. Supervise the implementation of all operations and procedures related to conducting surveys and excavation projects for archaeological sites.
  6. Provide support and assistance to archaeological institutions and individuals working in antiquities and research to develop public participation in preservation efforts.
  7. Supervise the preparation and publication of appendices and bulletins on archaeological sites in areas where tourists are present.
  8. Ensure cooperation with local and international media and facilitate their tasks.
  9. Monitor work at all archaeological sites and research in coordination with relevant organizational units and competent authorities.
  10. Lead, direct, review and approve work methods, performance and quality indicators.
  11. Periodic follow-up of performance indicators and evaluation of department employees.
  12. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety procedures and environmental management policies.
  13. Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the job as assigned.
  14. Monitor monthly and quarterly performance results and lead the development of corrective actions.
  15. Manage budget allocation at the site management level to ensure compliance.
  16. Consolidate all staff budget inputs and prepare the Archaeological Sites Management budget for leadership approval.
People Management
  1. Prepare unified strategies and budgets for workforce planning, talent acquisition, training and development.
  2. Set direct staff targets and review performance at mid-year and end-year.
  3. Follow up and guide employees to ensure operational requirements are met.
Skills & Education Required:
  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in Archaeological sites & Research.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology, History or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • PHD is preferable.
  • Ability to negotiate and develop partnerships on local and international levels.
  • Innovative problem solver, able to find workable solutions.
