Job title: LEGAL AFFAIRS MANAGER - Emirates Flight CateringCompany: Talent PalJob description: Job Purpose: To provide legal advice and support to Emirates Flight Catering, and its joint venture companies, on a variety of legal affairs matters to ensure the delivery of strategic outcomes.Key Result Areas:Work with, manage and negotiate effectively the use of outside counsel as necessary in order to optimise value.Identify and analyse risk areas from a legal perspective; provide counter clauses to ensure that the company's interest is protected, and the best commercial and legal positions are maintained.Work closely with the leadership team and provide effective legal inputs on various strategic initiatives and policy development proposals.Keep abreast of all legal and regulatory changes that may affect the business across all areas, suggest amendments to internal policies and amend contracts to reflect those changes.Review and recommend corrective actions on issues raised by departments to support their legal requests.Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.Advise on contracts conflicts and interpretations, compliance, corporate transactions, and IP matters as needed.Provide accurate and on-time advice and support to business divisions and internal departments including but not limited to:Labour and policy-related advice to Human resources;Contractual and commercial advice to the airline, lounge, off-airport and events teams;Contractual support to the Procurement team.Draft and review commercial contracts/agreements with vendors and transactional documentation for enhancements to existing products and business initiatives including licensing agreements etc.Plan and oversee the legal activities involved in the preparation, processing, review, maintenance and distribution of legal records, documents, reports and correspondence.Consult with attorneys and representatives or personnel from Federal law enforcement agencies concerning legal document processing.Provide day to day legal advice and support on the rules and regulations pertaining to UAE labour law, sponsorship, promotion and events, reviewing complex and varied local laws and implications and drafting, preparing and negotiating related documents and agreements.Appear at various internal forums for imparting legal awareness training and advising on legal issues and highlight procedural deficiencies.Educate the business teams and individuals involved in negotiating complex commercial deals such that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge, and subsequently working with them as the agreements are drafted, revised and completed.Job Context:Responsible for balancing conflicting business demands, producing high quality, practical and commercially-oriented legal advice. Where required, managing allocated outsourced work and communicating effectively to ensure clients are fully informed of progress towards the resolution of problems and the completion of their projects. Ensure that complex or high level matters are completed correctly and referred to the AVP Legal Affairs as appropriate. Ensure that professional knowledge is sufficiently maintained and applied by monitoring and reviewing legal publications and changes in legislation, ensuring that any such changes are shared within the team. As required, provide support and guidance to the AVP Legal Affairs.Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience:Education Qualification:Qualifications: Law degree from a recognised university, or a recognised legal executive qualification with current certification, including qualification as a solicitor, barrister, attorney or Graduate or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, or equivalent.Work Experience:Experience: 3+ years post graduate experience in a corporate group in-house legal department or law firm. Previous UK, UAE or other GCC country experience will be an advantage. Knowledge/skills: specialised knowledge and experience in drafting commercial agreements.Skills:An excellent technical and practical knowledge of contract law, close attention to detail, the ability to prioritise your workload and be an effective communicator. Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
