Responsible for delivering expert technical legal advice and legal support to the Malaysia Business Unit. The Legal Counsel will support the Manager Legal to ensure that the Malaysia business operations are carried out in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies.The Legal Counsel will also assist the Manager Legal in providing support on compliance review particularly on corporate social responsibility ("CSR") related issues and coordinate with Compliance Counsel in Abu Dhabi.Scope:To provide legal and compliance advice to support the activities of the Malaysia Business Unit and ensure strong lines of communication with, and high quality information flow to, the Associate General Counsel SEA.Knowledge:Law degree with preference of having Master of Laws qualification.Called to the Malaysian Bar.In-depth knowledge of the laws of Malaysia and in particular, the oil and gas legal and regulatory framework from an operator perspective.In-depth knowledge of international oil & gas and commercial law.Experience:Minimum 10 - 15 years post qualification experience, preferably in oil & gas (operator), commercial law and some litigation experience.Solid oil & gas industry and commercial experience obtained working at international law firms and/or as an in-house counsel with international organisations.Familiar with international compliance policies and procedures.Managing, mentoring and supervising a team of lawyers.Effective management of external counsel, ensuring quality output within time and budget constraints.Past working experience in law firm (2 to 3 years experience).Skills:Strong drafting and negotiation skills both in English and Malaysian.Strong verbal and written communication skills both in English and Malaysian.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Strong understanding of contractual terms.Good understanding of Petronas regulations and processes.Commercial acumen.Ability to liaise effectively, and coordinate with, internal project teams and service providers (at the international and local levels).Ability to quickly learn, understand, and contribute to the Legal & Compliance Unit and Company's values, strategies, policies and procedures.If you are interested to apply, please submit your Updated CV to recruitment@epintl.com or email to lc.lee@epintl.com urgently.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
