ResponsibilitiesWithindelegated authority, the Accounting Assistant will be responsiblefor the following duties:Records and reconciles more complexaccounting transactions.Examines and recordsactions performed in the workflow and routes toauditors.Reconciles more complex bank accountsin various currencies.Assists in theprocessing of monthly payroll closing, cost-of-living adjustments,and AP accounting. This includes, amongst other things,calculating, inputting, and checking payments for correctness andcommunicating discrepancies tosupervisors.Assists in processing payments toUNJSPF beneficiaries for their entitlements. Type of transactionsare all payroll and miscellaneous payments such as PI update,suspension, reinstatement, deletion, and reissuancepayments.Drafts/prepares communication toUNJSPF pension beneficiaries and to relevant other work units inthe UNJSPF and prints/mails out mass communicationletters.Responds to queries from staff membersand third parties.Assists with the collectionand analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentationsand reports for information sharing, responding to queries,knowledge management, planning and decisionmaking.Assists with visualizations andupdating information material such as web pages orbrochures.Performs other duties as may berequiredCompetenciesPROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge of theOrganization's financial rules and regulations as well asaccounting policies and practices. The minimum years of relevantexperience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first-leveluniversity degree or higher. Experience in pension-related fieldsis desirable. Experience in preparing international (SWIFT)payments is desirable. Experience in payroll processing isdesirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics orrelated area is desirable. INT
