JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently looking for a Technical Focal Point to join our team in Dubai, UAE.
The candidate will have extensive Oil and Gas experience in Managing and overseeing a wide range of projects and contracts at portfolio level . The role has a dual reporting line to the Operations Director for the overall management of the Iraq Business as well as functional accountability to the regional Technical Delivery Director in MEA.
Contributes to and maintains the delivery excellence of Project Delivery Across Iraq Business (and extended MEA contracts), through:
- Driving Project Governance and Assurance across region.
- Driving Technical Directorate Functional Initiatives across Region.
- Managing and supporting Contract / Project Managers.
- Deputising for the Regional Technical Director
- Executing assigned Iraq business objectives.
- Actively leads in Competency and Training.
- Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
- Developing and retaining motivated and competent people.
- Undertake the role of regional process owner.
- Performance reporting to senior management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
People:
- Iraq Operations Technical Focal Point & Regional Project Teams Focal Point
- Manage performance of direct reports.
- Manages succession planning and delivery on behalf of the region and specifically the Iraq Operations.
- Setting and improving standards for the competency, development, and retention of motivated and competent people.
- Assist in the management of recruitment, selection, transfers, and promotion of resources to meet Project Engineering team regional requirements.
Process Ownership:
- Continuous promotion of corporate / client specific procedures.
- Standardisation of Delivery across project portfolio.
- Drive compliance and adherence of competence procedures of Projects Team.
- Monitor compliance with competence standards.
- Assist in incident investigations, Technical Audits and PEER Reviews as required.
- Represent Operations MEA Project Function
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development.
- Assist in providing functional support to projects / contracts as required.
- Assist in Functional contributions at bid stage and client presentations/meetings.
- Roll out and implementation of learning opportunities from across the business.
- Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives, and industry technology developments.
- Identification of candidates for GTEN
- Co-ordinate and Drive Technical Innovation, Functional Improvements and Learnings
General:
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to respective team.
- Executing assigned business objectives.
- Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
- Manage and direct resources efficiently and effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree qualification in engineering subject 0r HNC or equivalent with extensive Project Management and Engineering experience.
- Chartered or equivalent with recognized professional body.
- Demonstrated background of being a role model in accordance with company core values and ethics at a level appropriate for the role.
- Demonstrable balance of industrial and management experience at relevant level and position.
- Capable of representing Operations MEA and client to business associates in a professional manner
- Capable use of discipline software and proactively encourage development.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to maintain discipline and resolve conflict.
- Able to demonstrate team building skills and capable of influencing people at all levels.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, conscientious, and keen to learn.
