NES Qatar is assisting its Qatar based oil and gas client to hire a Corporate Sustainability Manager who will be working closely with the Head of Corporate Sustainability.

The incumbent is required to establish and manage the overall activities pertaining to the development/revision, tracking and follow up of the firms Sustainability Plan and its other related activities. Responsible for the establishment of strategies, targets, and initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the firms operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop cross-functional sustainability performance goals, KPIs, metrics, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with senior management.
  • Identify and evaluate pilot projects or programs and/or solicit assistance from third party sustainability consultants to enhance the sustainability performance.
  • Advise and update stakeholders and decision-makers on projects/initiatives proposals to secure funding for sustainability projects and integrating in strategic plans.
  • Develop and maintain sustainability program documents, such as schedules and budgets
  • Oversee critical sustainability related processes such as data acquisition and management work.
  • Ensure communication of periodic reports and KPI updates related to organization performance on sustainability.
  • Ensure communication of internal and external sustainability reports in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative Standard (GRI).
  • Identify new sustainability indicators, as needed. Develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Review sustainability plan goals, progress, or status to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
  • Develop methodologies to assess the viability of success of sustainability initiatives.
  • Recommend strategies to address issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, training, and development.
  • Research and review regulatory, technical, or market issues, shareholders and national goals related to sustainability. Revise affected sustainability proposals or policies accordingly.
  • Benchmark key sustainability indications, communicate performance gaps, and create awareness on proven sustainability best international practices.
  • Annual review of key sustainability performance, report to Senior Leadership with proposed continuous improvement objectives.
  • Conduct annual stakeholder (internal and external) engagement exercise to enhance report disclosure and company transparency, which will be reflected into other issues and sustainability indicators report.
  • Establish strong industry relations with consultants and shareholders to gather necessary sustainability needs, list and prioritize goals, agree on initiatives to support sustainability goals with senior management, integrate with corporate Strategy Plan, and work with affected departments on the tactical and operational objectives to ensure work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in line with the business plans, policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with management, shareholders, and employees to address sustainability issues.
  • Cooperate with Public Relations to promote corporate image publicly on sustainability and assist in building internal capabilities to that respect.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of sustainability programs.
  • Cooperate with Training and Development to identify and recommend educational, training or other development opportunities for sustainability.
  • Initiate sustainability partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with regulators to anticipate risks and opportunities and influence decision-making in sustainability matters

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience, including at least 5-7 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the field of sustainability within Oil & Gas or Chemical manufacturing experience.
