Job Summary: Structural engineers are primarily concerned with constructing buildings and structures that are safe and capable of withstanding the elements to which they will be exposed, as well as improving the structural integrity of existing buildings. Job Responsibilities: · Analyze configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure. · Calculate the pressures, stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam etc, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes. · Select appropriate construction materials, considering the strength of various materials, e.g., concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design. · Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction. · Examine structures at risk of collapse and advising how to improve their structural integrity, such as recommending removal or repair of defective parts or rebuilding the entire structure. · Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval. · Make drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for buildings. · Apply expert knowledge of the forces that act on various structures. · Use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology & other related applications for simulation purposes. · Check & understand scope of work in accordance with project contracts & documents. · Giving progress reports to clients and senior managers. · Guide & help other Structural engineers when & where needed. · Provide the support and cooperation in regards to the Quality department requirements and Audits. · Provide the support and cooperation in regards to the Business development & tenders management activities when requested. Job requirements & Skills:

  • BSc Civil Engineering
· Must possess UPDA · Good analytical and problem-solving skills. · Strong mathematical ability. · Computer literacy. · Proficient in AutoCAD and other Applications such as ETABS, SAP, Safe, Prokon & any other equivalent application. · Revit Structure · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Ability to teamwork. · Attention to detail. · The ability to liaise well with professionals from other disciplines. · An interest in the design and structure of buildings. · A good working knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations is important.
