Job Title: Senior Mechanical Package Engineer (Gas Compressor)

Reports to: Head , (Topside & Jacket)

Primary Purpose of the Job

To provide Mechanical Package project engineering and management for multiple Gas Compressor Packages for Redevelopment Project, in accordance with Project Management Framework.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Client Focal Point and responsible for leading, coordinating, supporting, providing expertise and management guidance with regards to core discipline Package.
  • Facilitate and manage the interfacing and collaboration between Client PMT, EPIC Contractor and Package Vendor during all stages of the Package life cycle execution as appropriate.
  • Participate in the preparation of scope of work, tender packages, tendering process, evaluation of tenders and submissions with appropriate recommendations to relevant Tender Committees.
  • Promote value engineering and evaluation of alternative solutions to optimize cost and schedule.
  • Monitor & control Contractor/Vendor performance in timely delivery and review of Contractor/Vendors engineering documents, studies and queries through an efficient technical coordination scheme with the Contractor/Vendor.
  • Expedite the Contractor/Vendor to issue engineering deliverables with the right quality level and as per the approved MDR.
  • Monitor and track Contractor/Vendor procurement process from Material Requisition through to delivery at Workshop/Worksite for package assembly, completion and delivery to EPIC Contractor's fabrication yard(s).
  • Assess and review on regular basis the progress of the Contractor/Vendor's engineering deliverable by reviewing the MDR for all related disciplines.
  • Provide management with weekly reports on progress, issues, concerns, etc.
  • Ensure that the engineering activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and in compliance with Corporate & project standards.
  • Participate (Client Focal Point) in Contractor/Vendor meetings as required to discuss technical matters, resolve issues, decision making, raise awareness, etc.
  • Coordinate with Technical Engineering for responses to TQs and deviation requests.
  • Coordinate with the Project Procurement Expeditor for Contractor/Vendor timely delivery of Package components for Workshop & Worksite assembly.
  • Perform regular visits/permanently assigned at the Contractor/Vendors Workshops and/or Worksites.
  • Inform discipline engineers and management of any concerns that might jeopardize the safety, quality, cost or schedule and engage in implementation of mitigation measures as may be required.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Commissioning representatives to ensure that Ex-works testing is witnessed and hand-over can be performed.
  • Value Engineering: promote and implement optimized design solutions to optimize cost and schedule.
  • Engineering compliance: ensure compliance of engineering processes with the Project requirements and applicable Corporate and project standards.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable HSE standards/regulations and Project Quality Standards in close coordination with the Project Head QHSE.
  • Facilitate the comprehensive and timely Package Contract close-out.

  • Decision Making Authority


  • Under the supervision of Head, Field Project (Topside & Jacket), take decisions on the project issues within the frame work of respective contract documents and Project Management Framework, in close coordination and concurrence with the overall Project Team.
  • Provide support with review/updating of Project Budgets, and subsequent monitoring of invoices to ensure compliance to Contract terms based on progress and Milestones. Validate and endorse the Value of Work done against Contractor/Vendor's invoices.
  • Is responsible for and makes decision on behalf of The company for acceptance and handover of the Package from Contractor/Vendor in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Experience in drawing up scope of work and integrating various stakeholder requirements.
  • Exposed to multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exposed for extended periods of time to assignments overseas.
  • Exposed to Contractor/vendor Manufacturing Worksites, Fabrication yards and Offshore work environments during, construction, installation, hook-up, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and handover.

  • Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience


  • B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline from a recognized University; higher degree would be advantageous.
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering/project management association/institution will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in engineering, project management, Package management and execution of major EPIC projects in Offshore oil & gas.
  • Specific work experience in execution of Process/Gas Compression Packages and their integration with the overall Topsides facilities.
  • Effective communication (presentation, report writing, and management of meetings) skills.
