Job Description:

Senior Tax Analyst will be an integral part of the Retail Tax department in assisting Tax Manager Retail on day-to-day tax compliance and advisory issues relating to VAT and other prevailing taxes across GCC. Predominantly safeguarding the high standard of tax compliance by ensuring tax policies and processes are adhered to in accordance with local tax laws, tax returns are submitted on time and compliance standards maintained. Job Responsibilities:

  • Cooperate with other functions and provide support by answering VAT/Tax related queries
  • Ensure and safekeep records of all the returns submitted.
  • Carry out monthly reconciliation of various values / KPIs disclosed in the Tax returns vs financial records
  • Coach and supervise Tax Analyst, Assistant Tax Analyst on day to day functions and tasks
  • Carry out variance analysis of the VAT/Tax returns monthly – keeping up to date reports.
  • Support Tax Manager Retail in managing tax audits and assist in the coordination of appeals/ reconsideration requests ensuring all data is compiled to support tax positions taken.
  • Support Tax Manager Retail in development & implementation of any new VAT/Tax principles released by the Tax authorities
  • Keep up to date with new laws/ guidance and updates released by Tax authorities of different regions determining the impact on compliance processes and relevant changes
  • Optimize tax efficiencies in all end to end processes• Liaise with IT teams (and other relevant stakeholders) to resolve process / compliance/ reporting issues
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in preparation and submission of VAT/Tax (and equivalent) and withholding tax returns to Tax Manager Retail for the review within the filing deadlines and in compliance with the local tax law
  • Providing input from a compliance perspective into the development of company policies.
  • Assist Tax manager Retail with new tax projects and support tax advisory within business functions.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge and exposure to major ERPs, BI tools and an advanced excel skills
  • Should have good organizational and planning abilities including the ability to deal with/work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of GCC tax regulations is an advantage
  • Should have good analytical, numerical, research skills and attention to details
  • Should have strong problem solving abilities
  • Degree level – essential
  • Data analytics experience (working with large data)
  • You take ownership and responsibility of your tasks
  • Accounting skills – Qualified CA, ACCA, equivalent
  • Should have strong interpretation capabilities
  • Minimum 5 years’ post qualification work experience in accounting function in which minimum 3 years in VAT/Tax function ideally within the UAE
