We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoc to join the Thin Film Core Lab at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of thin film materials and technologies, with a focus on both thin film deposition techniques and photolithography/reactive ion etching processes. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment, driving innovation, and advancing scientific knowledge.Responsibilities:⢠Conduct independent research and experiments in the field of thin film materials, including thin film deposition and photolithography/reactive ion etching.⢠Develop and optimize thin film deposition techniques using various methods such as sputtering, thermal evaporation, and electron beam evaporation.⢠Design and optimize photolithography processes, including photoresist handling, exposure, development, and lift-off techniques.⢠Optimize reactive ion etching processes for controlled and selective etching of thin films and substrates.⢠Characterize thin film properties and fabricated structures using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and profilometry.⢠Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare reports, and present research findings.⢠Stay updated with the latest advancements in thin film technology, photolithography, and reactive ion etching.⢠Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure safety protocols are followed, and assist in training new lab members.⢠Mentor and supervise graduate students and research assistants in their experimental work.⢠Participate in academic conferences, workshops, and seminars to present research findings and stay connected with the scientific community.Qualifications:⢠Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on thin film technology and photolithography/reactive ion etching.⢠Strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in thin film deposition techniques, including sputtering, thermal evaporation, and electron beam evaporation.⢠Proficiency in operating and maintaining thin film deposition systems and photolithography/reactive ion etching equipment.⢠Experience in optimizing deposition parameters and controlling film thickness, uniformity, and adhesion.⢠Practical experience in characterizing thin films and fabricated structures using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and profilometry.⢠Strong knowledge and expertise in photolithography processes, including photoresist handling, exposure, development, and lift-off techniques.⢠Solid understanding of reactive ion etching techniques, including plasma generation, etching gases, and process control.⢠Familiarity with troubleshooting issues related to deposition systems, photolithography, and reactive ion etching.⢠Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to design and execute experiments independently.⢠Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with research teams, present research findings, and provide technical guidance.⢠Experience in mentoring and supervising students or research assistants is preferred.Application Process:Interested candidates should submit the following documents to (HIDDEN TEXT):⢠Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) highlighting relevant academic and research experience.⢠Cover letter summarizing the candidate's research interests, expertise in thin film technology, and photolithography/reactive ion etching.⢠Copies of relevant publications or research papers.⢠Contact information for at least three professional references.Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further evaluation and interview.Application Deadline: Open until filled.At KFUPM, we value diversity and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
