Overview

Saudi Aramco seek for Facilities Engineering Specialist to work with the Production and Facilities Production Department under the Petroleum Engineering & Development Admin Area.

The carbon capture and storage (CCS) Facilities Engineering Specialist will lead up-stream CCS project life cycle (engineering, construction and commissioning) for on-shore CCS facilities such as onshore drill site, pipeline network and CO2 transportation compression/pumping stations. Provide input to concerned parties for improvement such as de-bottlenecking, cost-effective alternative, increasing performance and cost reduction. Lead group of engineers in specific tasks and studies such as a new CCS field development, a new water relief system, and 20-year field Master Plan. Participate in the company engineering standard review and the development of young professionals.

Saudi Aramco's Carbon Capture and Sequestration upstream facilities team handles the development projects to ensure meeting the Kingdom's CCS targets. This role will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide expert technical insights on CCS related matters. This role is focusing on transportation of CO2 and injection field facilities with associated water handling systems.

Key Responsibilities

You are expected to be able to perform the following:

  • Develop the scope of work for CCS sink/field facilities design and reviewing engineering design packages.
  • Conduct CCS projects sink/field risk assessment studies.
  • Participate in many HOZOP studies related to CCS projects facilities.
  • Apply safety related issues and address environmental impact issues.
  • Perform pipe hydraulic simulations, choke and flash calculations on PC-based software packages
  • Analyze results of the simulations and recommend optimum hydraulic operating conditions.
  • Able to look at alternatives, perform economic analysis and identify the most cost-effective alternative.
  • Train and mentor less-senior team members

Minimum Requirements

 

  • The successful candidate should hold a bachelor degree in engineering from a recognized and approved program. MSc or PhD is desirable, but not required.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in a petroleum engineering organization with experience in CCUS projects from field perspective.
  • Familiar with CCS compression, pumping, transportation, and storage systems, injection wells system and wellsite facilities and have familiarity CO2 streams and capturing processes.
  • Should have extensive experience in project type work in design, funding, materials acquisition, construction and commissioning. Also, able to identify design specifications and recommend improvements and economies in this area.
  • Should have a thorough understanding of cost estimating pertaining to projects and able to explain over/under runs in expenditures.
  • It's desirable to have production/injection engineering experience and familiar to downhole well completions knowledge since studies encompassing these issues will be expected.
  • Good understanding of carbon related policies such as carbon tax, cap-and-trade, carbon pricing, etc.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the different policy/regulatory frameworks that have allowed the successful development of global CCUS projects.
  • Be familiar with the various costs across the entire CCUS value chain.
