Farrier Assistant

Job Description1. Provides assistance to the Lead Podiatrist with regards to hoof trimming and basic shoeing to ensure that all Farrier services requirements will be attended. 2. Must be aware of potential hazards and hazardous situations and be able to mitigate the likelihood of accident or injury where possible. 3. Submit record and reports accidents to the Lead Podiatrist to keep track of the horse history and for future reference. 4. Assist the Lead Podiatrist in keeping the inventory for all equipment, supplies and sundries to avoid shortage of stocks. 5. Assists in unit materials management for proper maintenance of the equipment. Qualifications1. Basic Farrier knowledge of correct balancing, trimming and shoeing techniques. 2. Equine anatomy especially the lower limbs and hoof and vocabulary therein Possesses basic horsemanship 3. Computer skills-must be able to use email and basic MS office applications and internet MS office applications and internet 4. Able to converse in English both written and verbal 5. Must be sensitive to and aware of cultural rules, restrictions, regulations and customs 6. Flexibility to work even on longer hours.#J-18808-Ljbffr
