Farrier Assistant

Job Description Provides assistance to the Lead Podiatrist regarding hoof trimming and basic shoeing to ensure all Farrier service requirements are met.Must be aware of potential hazards and hazardous situations, and be able to mitigate the likelihood of accidents or injuries where possible.Submits records and reports accidents to the Lead Podiatrist to maintain horse history and facilitate future reference.Assists in managing inventory for all equipment, supplies, and sundries to prevent stock shortages.Supports unit materials management for proper maintenance of equipment.Qualifications Basic Farrier knowledge, including correct balancing, trimming, and shoeing techniques.Knowledge of equine anatomy, especially the lower limbs and hoof, along with relevant vocabulary.Possesses basic horsemanship skills.Computer skills, including the ability to use email, MS Office applications, and internet.Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.Awareness of cultural rules, restrictions, regulations, and customs.Flexibility to work longer hours if required.#J-18808-Ljbffr
