Join to apply for the Specialist Financial Compliance role at Dubai Careers - A Smart Dubai Initiative Job Description Objectives of the Role Conduct comprehensive and accurate financial audits of non-profit organizations to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and promote transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. Operational Responsibilities Examine financial data of non-profit organizations by reviewing financial statements such as income statements, expense reports, cash flow reports, trial balances, and daily transaction records to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Ensure application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and proper documentation of all processes, including submitting reports and recommendations to the direct supervisor. Select samples of financial transactions to verify accuracy and compliance with supporting documents (e.g., invoices, contracts, payment receipts). Perform detailed audits of grant and donation allocation mechanisms in non-profit organizations, ensuring exclusive use for predefined purposes such as charitable or developmental projects. Identify legal or financial risks resulting from mismanagement or non-compliance with standards, policies, and legislation, and report recommendations to the supervisor for necessary actions based on risk assessment. Conduct field visits to hold regular meetings with non-profit organization managers to understand financial operations, identify challenges, and provide necessary technical support. Collaborate with organizations to implement recommendations through training sessions or workshops on best financial practices and to raise awareness of relevant standards, laws, and policies. Monitor improvements in financial procedures and processes in non-profit organizations by following up on implementation of recommendations and evaluating results through subsequent visits. Participate in training new employees or sharing knowledge to ensure awareness and compliance with standards, regulations, and policies. Stay updated on the latest developments in financial auditing for non-profit organizations and suggest amendments to the audit procedures manual based on practical experience, research, and legal changes. Prepare comprehensive audit reports including findings, observations, and violations (if any) and submit them to the supervisor. Adhere to the organization’s information security policies and ensure compliance with controls to maintain confidentiality of information. Any other tasks and responsibilities within the scope of the role. Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent from an accredited university. Professional certifications preferred, such as: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) Experience Requirements At least 5 years of experience in financial auditing within non-profit organizations, civil society groups, or NGOs.
