Head of English Leadership

Job Title We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Leader to oversee the English department.Key Responsibilities Syllabus Development: Design, develop, and review syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, assessment, and teaching and learning strategies within the department.Student Progress Monitoring: Monitor and follow up on student progress. Collaborate with colleagues to formulate aims, objectives, and strategic plans that are coherent and relevant to student needs and aligned with the school's goals.Subject Expertise: Stay updated with developments in the subject area, teaching practices, and methodologies.Performance Management: Undertake performance management reviews and act as a reviewer for staff within the department.Cover Arrangements: Arrange classes during staff absences, ensuring appropriate cover in coordination with relevant staff.Interview Process: Participate in the interview process for new teaching staff and facilitate induction programs in line with school procedures.Team Collaboration: Promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective collaboration.Department Operations: Manage daily staff operations within the department and serve as a positive role model.Standards of Practice: Establish and maintain consistent standards of practice and enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.Lesson Observation: Contribute to lesson observation procedures.Aims and Objectives: Ensure departmental members are familiar with aims and objectives aligned with the School Development Plan.Pupil Progress Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents regarding student progress.Professional Development: Engage in regular professional development training sessions.Mission Alignment: Support the school's aims and ethos as outlined in the Mission Statement.Personal Conduct: Set an example through dress, punctuality, and attendance.Application Requirements Qualification: M.Ed, B.Ed, or relevant Bachelor's Degree with a Teaching Qualification Experience: At least 5 years Nationality: Western-trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa)Language: Native English speaker Additional Qualifications: Degree in English with PGCE and QTSLeadership Experience: Minimum 2 years as Head of Department Preferred Experience: Working in an Islamic faith school, international experience Note: Newly qualified teachers and Open University qualifications are not considered; experienced teachers without qualifications are also not accepted.Location Preference: Candidates based in Emirates are preferred due to COVID-19 considerations, but not essential.
