Description Arabic and Islamic Teacher - Job Description Type: Permanent Department: Academic Line Manager: Head of Arabic Functional Reporting: N/A ___________________________________________________________________ Rationale The purpose of the role of Arabic and Islamic Teacher is to promote a love for students of all abilities at the school. They must share responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessments of the subject, guiding and encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, while raising standards of attainment and achievement. They must promote high standards of literacy and articulacy, set high expectations, and motivate and challenge pupils. The Arabic and Islamic Teacher should be a qualified educator capable of delivering high-quality teaching and learning, inspiring students to progress independently. They will work closely with colleagues, support the school's work, and foster good relationships with students, parents, and staff. Initiative, empathy, and a positive attitude are essential, along with contributing to subject leadership and extracurricular activities. Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility LEARNING AND TEACHING Set high expectations to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils. Establish a safe, stimulating environment based on mutual respect. Set challenging goals for pupils of all backgrounds and abilities. Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behavior expected of pupils. Promote good progress and outcomes, being accountable for pupils' attainment and progress. Plan lessons based on pupils' prior knowledge and capabilities, encouraging reflection and understanding of learning processes. Maintain knowledge of subject curriculum, promote interest, and address misunderstandings. Promote literacy, articulacy, and proper use of English, regardless of subject specialization. Design and deliver well-structured lessons, using effective teaching strategies. Encourage a love of learning and intellectual curiosity. Assign homework and plan activities to reinforce learning. Reflect on teaching effectiveness and adapt approaches accordingly. Contribute to curriculum development and resource planning. Differentiate teaching to meet diverse student needs. Assess student progress using formative andsummative methods, providing feedback and setting targets.MANAGEMENT OF BEHAVIOUR Establish clear rules and routines for behavior, promoting respectful conduct. Maintain high expectations and consistent discipline strategies. Manage classrooms effectively to motivate and involve students. Build positive relationships, exercise authority appropriately, and act decisively when needed.WIDER PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the school community through extracurricular activities and school events. Develop professional relationships, seek advice, and support colleagues. Use support staff effectively and engage in professional development. Participate in curriculum planning and school improvement initiatives. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and well-being.GENERAL Perform other reasonable tasks as directed by the Principal. Maintain awareness of Health and Safety policies, ensuring safety in all activities. Uphold high standards of personal and professional conduct, respecting pupils' dignity, safeguarding their well-being, and promoting British values and school ethos.Position Requirements Educational qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching, valid teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE, and relevant experience (minimum 3 years). Language: Proficiency in English. Skills: Knowledge of assessment methods, curriculum development, classroom management, and use of technology; excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.Attributes Empathetic listening, integrity, cultural awareness, creativity, flexibility, passion for education, professionalism, and reliability.Other Notes Adherence to confidentiality, school policies, and cultural expectations.
