Description AFL Teacher Job Description Type: Permanent Department: Academic Line Manager: Head of Arabic Functional Reporting: N / A _____________________________________________________________________________________ Rationale The purpose of the role of AFL Teacher is to promote a love for students of all abilities at the school. They must share responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessments of the subject, guiding and encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, as well as raising standards of attainment and achievement. They must promote high standards of literacy and articulacy, set high expectations, and standards that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils. The AFL Teacher should be a qualified educator with proven capacity to deliver high-standard teaching and learning. They will teach IB DP level Arabic, have good knowledge of IB Arabic requirements, and be accountable for inspiring and supporting students’ progress. They will work closely with colleagues, promote good relationships, and contribute to the school community through leadership and extracurricular activities. Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility Learning and Teaching Set high expectations to motivate and challenge pupils Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating environment Plan lessons that build on pupils’ prior knowledge and reflect on teaching effectiveness Promoting Progress and Outcomes Be responsible for pupils’ attainment and progress Differentiate teaching to meet diverse needs Use assessment data effectively to monitor and plan Subject Knowledge Maintain secure knowledge of Arabic and IB curriculum Promote literacy and scholarship Lesson Planning and Delivery Deliver well-structured lessons that foster a love of learning Incorporate IB pedagogy and develop engaging curriculum resources Responding to Student Needs Differentiate and adapt teaching for all learners, including SEN and high-ability students Support students’ holistic development Assessment Use formative and summative assessments to track progress Provide timely feedback and use data to inform instruction Behavior Management Establish clear rules and routines Manage classroom behavior positively and fairly Professional Responsibilities Contribute to school life and extracurricular activities Build effective relationships with colleagues, parents, and students Engage in professional development General Perform other duties as assigned Ensure health and safety compliance Health and Safety Prioritize safety and implement safety policies Personal and Professional Conduct Maintain high standards of ethics and behavior Respect confidentiality and safeguarding policies Position Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Education Relevant teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE Minimum 3 years relevant experience Experience with IB Arabic A, B, or Ab at DP level preferred Fluent in English Skills and Knowledge Deep understanding of assessment methods and curriculum development Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with computer applications and data management Attributes Empathetic, respectful, culturally aware, and adaptable Passionate about education and school development Note: The school expects all staff to adhere to policies, maintain professionalism, and prioritize student safety and well-being.
