Job Description: AFL Teacher Type: Permanent Department: Academic Line Manager: Head of Arabic Functional Reporting: N/A Rationale The AFL Teacher promotes a love for learning among students of all abilities. Responsible for planning, teaching, and assessments, they guide students to develop their academic potential, raise attainment standards, and promote high literacy and articulacy standards. They are qualified educators with proven teaching capabilities, teaching IB DP Arabic, with a good understanding of IB Arabic requirements. They aim to inspire, motivate, and support students to progress independently and work collaboratively with colleagues, fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Initiative, empathy, and a proactive attitude are essential, along with a contribution to extracurricular activities and subject leadership. Key Duties and Responsibilities Learning and Teaching Set high expectations to motivate and challenge pupils Establish a safe, respectful, and stimulating environment Plan lessons based on pupils' prior knowledge and capabilities Support IB Arabic B and Ab students to reach their potential Subject Knowledge Maintain secure knowledge of IB Arabic curriculum and developments Promote literacy and articulate use of standard English Lesson Planning and Delivery Deliver well-structured lessons fostering curiosity and understanding Design engaging curriculum and develop resources Embed IB pedagogy in teaching Adaptation and Assessment Differentiating instruction to meet diverse needs Use formative and summative assessments effectively Provide regular feedback and utilize assessment data for planning Behavior Management Establish clear rules and routines Manage classes to promote good behavior and safety Professional Responsibilities Contribute to school life and extracurricular activities Develop professional relationships and engage in continuous development Communicate with parents about pupils' progress and well-being Health and Safety Promote safety and perform duties diligently Follow health and safety policies and procedures Personal and Professional Conduct Maintain high standards of ethics, behavior, and confidentiality Respect cultural differences and adhere to school policies Position Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from an accredited institution Teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE Minimum 3 years relevant experience, preferably with IB Arabic Fluent in English Skills and Attributes Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to motivate and engage students Flexible, resilient, and committed to quality education Knowledge of safeguarding, welfare, and assessment methods This description reflects the main duties and responsibilities.
