Civil Engineer

PRIMARY purpose Plan, monitor coordinate and approve all civil and structural engineering design, procurement and construction activities associated with all projects across Dolphin Energy UAE in liaison with project planning and management for a wide range of activities including layouts, foundations, pipelines, structural design, buildings, drainage, roads construction plans, etc. to facilitate successful completion of projects as per defined parameters, industry best practices and contractual agreements. (Not translated in selected language) - Oversee detailed design and engineering activity for all civil and structural aspects of projects, including formulation of engineering and procurement/material and construction specifications to ensure alignment to project goals and strategy. - Gather, research and analyze pertinent data and information and prepare recommendations with supporting technical data for the effective development of specifications and equipment data sheets. - Supervise, coordinate and approve the activities of assigned personnel and contractor or consultants on all civil and structural related activities (design, procurement and construction) including all related civil pipeline preparation activities while ensuring effective liaison with the project development team for all day to day matters to facilitate timely and accurate execution of all project phases as per defined timelines and specifications. - Coordinate civil and structural review and approval of design, equipment and interface with contractor and vendors on Dolphin Energy UAE’s requirements. - Lead site meetings related to all aspects of civil and structural matters ensure civil and structural discipline, interdisciplinary and operational input from Dolphin Energy UAE is effectively communicated to contractors or consultants and reflected in specifications, data sheets and drawings and ascertain adherence with defined protocols across project design and execution phases. - Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with Senior Manager Engineering on technical issues requiring speedy resolution. Advice on layouts, site preparation, foundations, buildings, structural platforms, pipeline design (crossings, etc.), etc. while participating in technical evaluation of contractor vendor proposals to assess technical capability and ensure that bidder’s proposals are in compliance with set specifications. - Perform supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position to ensure all activities are per defined standards and agreements. - Responsible for ensuring contractor, vendor and subcontractors’ activities within area of responsibility are carried out in accordance with the contractual strategy. Participate in all project reviews including HAZOP, etc. to assure adherence to all defined standards while highlighting areas of non-conformances and advising on corrective actions. - Coordinate and provide civil and structural support for all project construction activities, including the assurance that detailed and construction engineering data are available at site. Check and validate the preparation, issuance and implementation of relevant Construction Engineering documents, by Contractor including detailed procedures, method statements, drawings, calculation notes, list of Construction Equipment, list of personnel, planning, back-up procedures, to support effective project execution. - Ensure that Contractor compiles and maintains updated construction manuals with all documents, procedures, plans and pertinent information related to site work while assessing and reporting on the acceptability of the deviation/relaxation requested by Contractor providing recommendations on the matter. - Visit work sites to establish existing conditions. Review applicability of existing drawings, standards and specifications and recommend appropriate changes. - Carry out the technical reviews for all areas of work covered in civil engineering and infrastructure projects. These include, but are not necessarily limited to, land surveying, geo-technical and site investigation, roads, residential, commercial and industrial buildings, water storage and distribution, drainage systems, retaining walls while evaluating requests and recommending appropriate solutions and proposing changes as necessary. - Prepare updates on weekly progress, resource requirements, drawings and documents availability, and schedule look-ahead, etc. and report any important issues, such as deviations, delays to management to support implementation of corrective action. - Perform other similar or related duties as required or assigned by Senior Manager Engineering.
