Key Accountabilities: Role purpose: Position is responsible for leading library team and overseeing and managing all library operations and services, in addition to duties associated with a Staff Librarian position. Duties & responsibilities: - Organizes collection and conducts research based on the collection and its history - Concurrently performs the duties of a Staff Librarian - Plans, organizes, and directs a comprehensive library program of services to the community. - Supervises staff and volunteers, and acts as a liaison between the other sections in Department and Library team - Proposing, drafting and interpreting policies, procedures and guidelines; - Advises departments of temporary and other changes or conditions. - Train or help train new employees. - Responds to inquiries, requests, and complaints of patrons, and provides specialized assistance to users with particular needs. - Reviews material selection and assists in Library Collection Development. - Collaborates with Head of Section on annual performance appraisals. - Participates in QM library meetings, monitors communications to implement and coordinate changes in policies and procedures. - Participates in training workshops to develop appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities to improve services and adapt to changes. - Performs staff service duties and supports operations of all GC Sections - Works closely with Collection Management section on documenting, separating and housing of manuscripts, old and rare books. - Performs similar or related work as required. Qualifications/Requirements: - Minimum 3-5 years working within library environment, preferably poses museum or gallery experience. Knowledge of contemporary practices of Library management and time-based conservation and collection care and management would be strongly beneficial. - Master’s degree in Library studies, Art History, History or related field - Professional library qualification. - Experience in an academic or education library (preferred). - Experience in organizational responsibility. - Well-developed management and leadership skills. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Expert user of library management systems and confident in the use of information technology. - Versatility, initiative and problem solving capabilities. - Ability to think laterally and holistically. - Sensitivity to the multicultural nature of the college. - Master’s degree in Library studies, Art History, History or related field - Minimum 3-5 years working within library environment, preferably poses museum or gallery experience. Knowledge of contemporary practices of Library management and time-based conservation and collection care and management would be strongly beneficial.
