Offer Description Description The Department invites applications for a faculty position in Environmental Engineering (open rank, although preference will be given to candidates at the Assistant and Associate levels) with an emphasis on Sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment in the context of major environmental pillars, including the treatment and management of water and wastewater, waste, or air pollution control. The candidate is expected to have teaching experience in Civil and Environmental Engineering to support Khalifa’s commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, a strong research potential demonstrated by relevant publications and citations in high-impact journals, and excellent communication skills. Successful candidates will teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain active research programs leading to high-impact publications, and provide service to the department, university, and profession. They are also expected to be involved in thematic research within one or more of the university’s research priority areas. Strategic Responsibilities NA Operational Responsibilities Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as scheduled by the Department Chair. Prepare teaching materials, including course outlines, syllabi, and lesson plans, and revise regularly. Contribute to the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum. Provide students with detailed syllabi, instructional methods, and evaluation criteria. Select textbooks and teaching aids necessary for instruction. Monitor student performance and offer remedial classes when needed. Set and grade exams, coursework, assignments, and laboratory work. Utilize up-to-date instructional technology to ensure effective delivery. Supervise students’ research, practical work, and thesis preparation, and participate in thesis evaluation. Participate in professional peer reviews. Continuously develop scholarly competence and teaching effectiveness. Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activities: Conduct research and produce publications or other outputs aligned with personal objectives. Engage in scholarly or creative activities and submit results for peer review. Present papers at professional meetings, seminars, and conferences. Participate in panels at regional and international professional meetings. Identify and secure external funding and grants. Qualifications Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications A Ph D or equivalent doctorate in a related discipline from an accredited institution. Preference for candidates from or with experience in leading higher education institutions. Background in Civil and Environmental Engineering and relevant experience beyond the Ph D. Familiarity with AI, GIS, data science/analytics, machine learning, and computer modeling is highly desirable. Required Experience Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years at the Assistant Professor level.
