Roles and ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise Process Engineering Teams in Feasibility, Conceptual Studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC Projects.Undertake process design work of units as required, supervising and checking the work of assigned engineers on the project.Execute process engineering activities within budget and schedule, maintaining the technical integrity of the design.Ensure that detailed design methods, standards, and data used conform with Client's requirements.Be responsible for the checking or approval of basis of design, process calculations, and safety-related calculations to develop a robust design.Review and approve Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, PSFS, DPTDs, Equipment & Instrument specifications, Process Descriptions, and Cause and Effect charts.Review and approve dynamic simulation studies, transient studies, surge studies, and Minimum Metal Design Temperature (MDMT) studies.Review and approve depressurization studies, flare load estimation, and flare system design.Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed.Review and approve safety-related calculations and provide input to HAZOP, SIL, and other safety reviews as required.Identify new methodologies of work processes required for higher productivity.Contribute to the review of supplier quotations and project reviews.Ensure compliance with Licensor's Secrecy Agreements in work performed.Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers.Identify issues that impede project progress and report to Project Managers, Engineering Manager, or Discipline heads.As Lead Discipline Engineer, manage the team of engineers and designers to deliver the engineering requirements of the project.Mentor and engage in the training and development of junior engineers.Assist project team in preparation of planning packages, scheduling, and weekly reporting.Assist in the preparation of pre-commissioning, commissioning procedures, and operating manuals.Provide assistance in man-hour estimation and scheduling for proposals.QualificationsBachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including a minimum of five (5) years in the GCC region.At least five (5) years of experience in a similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers, and Engineers.Proficient in Process Simulation software such as HYSYS, Flare System Analyzer, PipeNet, Pipesim, OLGA, etc., and should be a subject matter expert.Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.Experience in a multi-project/multi-disciplined environment throughout all engineering and design phases of projects.Previous experience of working in the Middle East is advantageous.Desired Candidate ProfileProcess Design and Optimization: Expertise in designing and optimizing industrial processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and safety.Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of chemical and physical processes, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and related engineering principles.Project Management: Strong skills in managing projects from concept through execution, including scope, schedule, and budget management.Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA, ISO) to ensure that processes meet legal and safety requirements.Problem-Solving: Advanced analytical skills to identify process inefficiencies and develop effective solutions.Leadership and Mentoring: Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex technical information to stakeholders at all levels.Data Analysis: Proficiency in using data analytics and modeling tools to assess process performance and identify improvement opportunities.Cost Management: Understanding of budgeting and financial analysis to ensure projects are cost-effective and aligned with organizational goals.Safety and Environmental Awareness: Commitment to promoting safe practices and environmental sustainability in all process designs.Areas of ExpertiseProcess Simulation: Proficient in using process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model and analyze process systems.Scale-Up and Technology Transfer: Experience in scaling up processes from laboratory or pilot scale to full production, including technology transfer.Energy Efficiency: Implementing energy-efficient practices and technologies to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.Quality Assurance: Developing and implementing quality control measures to ensure that processes meet industry standards and client specifications.
