Job Purpose: The Early Years SEN Coordinator has the overall responsibility for ensuring appropriate quality provision, attainment, and progress for students identified as Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), and Gifted and Talented (G&T) across Foundation Stage. The Early Years SEN Coordinator is also responsible for communicating and engaging with parents and a variety of external student support services to ensure that all students have access to appropriate interventions and learning strategies to meet their individual needs. Key Accountabilities:

  1. Create and maintain a register of all students with specific educational needs requiring support.
  2. Create, monitor, and review the effectiveness of DBF policies and procedures.
  3. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s DBF policies.
  4. Track the progress and development of targeted students in conjunction with class/subject teachers and team leaders.
  5. Collect data and analyze student results.
  6. Support the identification of student needs, including conducting individual assessments as needed.
  7. Support and monitor the development and review of IEPs as appropriate.
  8. Design and coordinate interventions and ensure effective implementation and provision of programs for students.
  9. Identify barriers to learning for identified students and share appropriate strategies with staff.
  10. Mentor and induct new staff within the team.
  11. Line manage and monitor the performance of Inclusion LSA(s) and ILSAs in school.
  12. Report back to and meet with teachers and parents as appropriate.
  13. Provide training and coaching of classroom LAs to extend their knowledge and skills in supporting students to narrow gaps, address areas of need, and accelerate learning.
  14. Maintain high levels of communication with all relevant parties.
  15. Attend various parent/teacher occasions.
  16. Develop strategies to most efficiently and effectively assist targeted students.
  17. Assist with enrollment and admissions procedures and assessments.
  18. Resource management.
  19. Conduct and report on student observations.
  20. Conduct lesson observations and support teacher development.
  21. Implement effective screening and diagnostic procedures to identify specific learning needs.
  22. Performance management of staff with a focus on differentiation to impact teaching.
  23. Receive and act upon Records of Concern where necessary.
  24. Lead weekly meetings with staff involved in Student Support.
  25. Ensure transparent and appropriate regularity of meetings with parents, along with classroom/subject teachers.
  26. Prepare reports as required to meet particular circumstances, i.e. DSIB, SEF, requirements, etc.
  27. Initiate, develop, and manage effective and supportive relationships with external agencies/providers as appropriate, e.g. child psychology services.
  28. Ensure any specific or critical action required for any student is shared with staff as necessary and that PD, if required, is provided.
  29. Develop opportunities across Taaleem for professional sharing and development.
