We are urgently searching for a Civil Engineer specializing in roads and buildings. The candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure related to roads, highways, and buildings. The role requires both technical and managerial skills to ensure the successful delivery of projects, adhering to safety standards, quality control, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and Planning:

Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and blueprints for road and building projects using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).

Perform feasibility studies, and site investigations, and assess the environmental impact of projects.

Collaborate with architects, surveyors, and contractors to develop cost-effective, practical solutions to design problems.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure projects comply with regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.

2. Construction Management:

Oversee the construction process for roads and buildings, ensuring materials and construction methods adhere to the design specifications and engineering standards.

Monitor and manage project progress to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.

Ensure quality control of materials (e.g., concrete, asphalt) and perform tests (e.g., soil testing, material strength tests) to ensure standards are met.

Work closely with site managers, contractors, and construction teams to address any on-site issues.

3. Project Coordination:

Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for roads and building projects.

Coordinate with government agencies for permits, approvals, and compliance with regulations.

Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to communicate project status, milestones, and address concerns.

Prepare and present progress reports to clients and management.

4. Maintenance and Safety:

Conduct regular inspections of roads, highways, and buildings to assess wear and tear or damage, ensuring safety and functionality.

Design and implement maintenance programs for long-term asset management.

Ensure that all safety protocols and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations are followed on-site.

Identify potential hazards and develop solutions to ensure worker and public safety during construction.

5. Technical Expertise:

Apply knowledge of geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, transportation engineering, and materials science to solve engineering challenges.

Use specialized software tools for modelling, simulating, and analysing infrastructure projects.

Ensure that the drainage systems, foundation, and load-bearing structures of buildings are up to standard.

Develop and evaluate proposals for new technologies and materials that could improve the efficiency and sustainability of construction projects.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, with expertise in road design, building structures, materials science, and project management software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).

Analytical Thinking: Ability to perform complex calculations and analyses related to load, stress, and geotechnical conditions.

Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying challenges and formulating solutions to address them during the design and construction phases.

Project Management: Skilled in managing timeframes, budgets, and resources, and leading construction teams to deliver projects on time.

Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing designs, specifications, and standards to ensure quality.

Leadership: Ability to lead construction teams, contractors, and work crews, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred for senior roles).

Professional Engineering License (PE) or equivalent certification (preferred or required based on location) is desirable.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in road and building infrastructure projects.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other design and simulation software.

Knowledge of local building codes, transport regulations, and safety standards.

Site management experience and familiarity with large-scale infrastructure projects.

Work Environment:

Office-based work for planning, design, and project coordination.

On-site fieldwork for inspections, project supervision, and quality assurance.

Occasional travel to construction sites or client meetings.
