Outstanding American school seeking High School Assistant Principal to join 1 August 2025. Job Goal To provide visionary leadership and demonstrate exemplary management skills in the recruitment and development of faculty, the implementation of a superior curriculum, the assurance of long-term school financial stability, and the provision of effective communication with all the school’s constituents. To ensure the social wellbeing and academic growth of all children. Supervises: Assigned faculty and support services personnel. Interfaces with Head of School, all Principals, other administrators, faculty, students, parents, and members of the GEMS Corporate Office. Key Accountabilities

- Ensure that GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
- Model and encourage DAA’s Culture of Kindness and perpetuate the school’s mission and values.
- Commit time and leadership for the successful implementation of the DAA’s School Improvement Plan.
- Ensure that all teachers and support staff have a clear understanding of their performance expectations (e.g., job descriptions and faculty handbook) and assist faculty towards becoming master teachers.
- Establish willingness to be a “mentor” to all faculty and encourage their professional growth and career advancement.
- Demonstrate role-model traits that enable others to recognize the Assistant Principal as a leader.
- Seek management harmony and instill a sense of common purpose and pursuit toward consensus goals in the decision-making process.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, colleagues, and the community (i.e., verbal, non-verbal, and written communication).
- Seek the involvement of faculty and parents in a wide variety of school activities.
- Develop the leadership capabilities of teachers so that instructional leadership becomes a shared responsibility.
- Develop meaningful curriculum for the social and emotional wellbeing of students as leader of the HS Advisory program, including the supervision of Grade Level Advisors and student government advisors.
- Supervise and work with the attendance secretary to ensure that a reliable system of monitoring student attendance is maintained.
- Oversee and enforce the HS Disciplinary Guidelines as laid out in the HS Handbook, including the supervision and record keeping of detention.
- Be “visible” during the school day, particularly during class changes, lunch, dismissal, etc.
- Schedule and oversee the supervision duty schedule for teachers.
- Schedule and facilitate semester exams, including the proctoring schedule and distribution of exams to students.
- Participate in the development of curriculum documentation that specifies content and skills, instructional methods, and assessment practices.
- Review assessment results to determine whether curriculum and instructional goals and student performance outcomes are being met.
- Create an efficient, productive, and caring building atmosphere where all students (and faculty) have the opportunity to be recognized for their best efforts.
- Ensure that all of the School’s resources are identified and used to serve students and faculty members alike; help both to reach their full performance potential.
- Assume responsibility for sound financial management including accurate program budget planning and fiscal accountability.
- Commit to constant professional learning and growth and be a life-long learner.
- Attend after school student activity programs and parent events.
- Take on all responsibility for the “mechanics” of the assignment; activities such as aiding with the development of a master class and/or school schedule, accurate record keeping, office accounting, etc.
- Be a willing and active participant in committee work and a contributing member of the Administrative Team.
- Perform other activities as might be required for the general welfare of the School and/or as requested by the High School Principal or the Superintendent/CEO.
- Current North American teacher and administration certification (desired).
- Master’s Degree (School Administration, Leadership, and/or Curriculum).
- Record of highly successful teaching experience in the particular division.
- Record of effective leadership and management experience.
- Experience with American curriculum, standards, and pedagogy.
