Description
Aircraft accident/incident Investigation
- Lead investigation teams formed to conduct investigation into major/complex accidents that occur in the territory of UAE, as investigator-in-charge or chairperson, for efficient utilization of resources and ensuring effective investigations.
- Conduct investigations into less severe accidents, serious incidents, and other occurrences to identify causes and contributing factors.
- Conduct safety studies/research to identify aviation safety risks at the national and international levels.
- Conduct special/limited scope safety investigations requested by management to address specific aviation safety concerns.
- Represent the UAE in investigations conducted by other states and supervise the UAE team for effective participation in the investigation.
- Determine the initial response actions (as a Duty Investigator) based on received notifications of accidents and serious incidents.
- Ensure that accident investigators comply with site safety procedures.
- Conduct insight analysis of human and organizational factors (engineering aspects) and assess their contribution to the accident.
- Lead investigation teams assigned to conduct investigations under Annex 13 provisions into State/military/police air accidents upon request from the concerned authority.
- Lead investigation teams as investigator-in-charge, assigned to conduct investigations for the privilege of other states upon official request from that state.
- Manage the preparation of the investigation Final Report according to the report-writing procedure.
Database and Knowledge Sharing
- Update the investigation process in the UAE-Accident Investigation Management System database.
- Participate in national and international seminars, forums, and workshops to gain new knowledge and skills for accident investigation quality concepts, methods, techniques, and mechanisms.
Reporting
- Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet GCAA requirements and quality standards.
