Responsibilities

Education and Training

- Be willing to learn new clinical skills.
- Support and supervise pre-registration and new nurses and Health Care Workers when required.
- Participate in teaching, mentorship and preceptorship programmes when required.
- Participate in clinical supervision.
- Participate in Performance Improvement Plans when required.
- Share knowledge and skill with others, in order to improve patient care and service.
- Ensure they are skilled, trained and competent before using any medical device.
- Involve patients in their own healthcare and recovery through education, awareness and positive reinforcement.
Quality Assurance
- Speak up, if something isn't right.
- Maintain awareness of and comply with the NMC Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in all activities related to DoH/DHA/MoH/NMC Quality Improvement when required.
- Understand the Regulatory standards and which of them apply to their daily working practice.
- Continually seek to improve the service of and care delivery for patients and their families.
- Report and notify all untoward/serious and near miss incidents to your direct line manager and then through the Sapphire/incident reporting system in a timely way.
- Cooperate with all investigations and audits when requested to do so in the interest of developing a learning culture and seeking to improve care and service.
Management Responsibilities
- Ensure all nurses deliver safe and high quality patient care and have a proactive attitude towards the patients and their families.
- Develop and provide support to the Nurse-in-Charge, Nurse Manager and Supervisors in leading a team of Assistant and Registered nurses.
- Evaluate nursing activities to ensure safe patient care, good caregiver relations and operational efficiency.
- Improve the operational systems, service processes and policies in support of the Centre’s mission.
- Establish KPIs that are relevant to the business and monitor the achievements.
- Ensure an appropriate Occupational Safety and Health Management System including Control of Biological Hazards is in place in the Centre.
- Liaise with medical staff and Procurement Department regarding the suitability of clinical equipment and inventory supplies.
- Contribute to product evaluation, when required.
- Participate in trials related to new product lines, when required.
- Participate as a team member of Quality Management team in implementing standard operating procedures and protocols relating to patient care services.
- Participate in internal audits and communicate to the clinical team to improve and change practice.
- Develop policies and procedures relating to patient care.
- Develop clinical skill assessment tools and participate in the assessment of caregivers to ensure safe evidence-based care.
- Participate in annual budget and manpower planning and monitor spending.
- Provide management reports on patient care records and statistics, when required.
- Manage Caregivers appraisals and evaluate training needs analysis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and the Clinical Nurse Educator.
- Identify issues, taking a lead role in managing complaints, review, audit process to highlight concerns regarding patient care.
- Participate in clinical audits as required and report to the Director of Nursing.
- Provide coverage when other Nurse Managers or the Director of Nursing is on leave.
OSHAD Responsibilities
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
- Work in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Notify OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assist with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
- Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
- Ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that any workplaces they manage or control are safe and without risks to health, safety or the environment.
- Ensure implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies and standards.
- Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
- Designate a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
- Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/management meetings.
- Ensure provision of OSH information, training and supervision.
- Implement and monitor the effectiveness of the risk management program.
Minimum Requirements
- Have evidenced experience in managing a number of departments and teams.
- Be able to influence and implement change when necessary.
- Be able to make decisions and communicate effectively.
- Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualifications and experience this mandates.
- Manage their own professional revalidation.
- Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months).
- Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed.
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
Desirable
- Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed.
- Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform for clinical documentation.
- Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic.
