The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, will uphold and live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their patients, relatives, friends and significant others all the time, every time.

Responsibilities

Education and Training

  1. Ensure relevant training and competency is undertaken to deliver care safely.
  2. Maintain up-to-date mandatory training requirements.
  3. Follow the clinical pathways set out by the NMC Elseviar platform.
  4. Follow and comply with the NMC Competency Framework, relevant to their role profile.
  5. Be willing to learn new clinical skills.
  6. Support and supervise pre-registration and new nurses and Health Care Workers when required.
  7. Participate in teaching, mentorship and preceptorship programmes when required.
  8. Participate in clinical supervision.
  9. Participate in Performance Improvement Plans when required.
  10. Share knowledge and skill with others, in order to improve patient care and service.
  11. Ensure they are skilled, trained and competent before using any medical device.
  12. Involve patients in their own healthcare and recovery through education, awareness and positive reinforcement.

Quality Assurance

  1. Speak up, if something isn't right.
  2. Maintain awareness of and comply with the NMC Policies and Procedures.
  3. Participate in all activities related to DoH/DHA/MoH/NMC Quality Improvement when required.
  4. Understand the Regulatory standards and which of them apply to their daily working practice.
  5. Continually seek to improve the service of and care delivery for patients and their families.
  6. Report and notify all untoward/serious and near miss incidents to your direct line manager and then through the Sapphire/incident reporting system in a timely way.
  7. Cooperate with all investigations and audits when requested to do so in the interest of developing a learning culture and seeking to improve care and service.

Management Responsibilities

  1. Ensure all nurses deliver safe and high quality patient care and have a proactive attitude towards the patients and their families.
  2. Develop and provide support to the Nurse-in-Charge, Nurse Manager and Supervisors in leading a team of Assistant and Registered nurses.
  3. Evaluate nursing activities to ensure safe patient care, good caregiver relations and operational efficiency.
  4. Improve the operational systems, service processes and policies in support of the Centre’s mission.
  5. Establish KPIs that are relevant to the business and monitor the achievements.
  6. Ensure an appropriate Occupational Safety and Health Management System including Control of Biological Hazards is in place in the Centre.
  7. Liaise with medical staff and Procurement Department regarding the suitability of clinical equipment and inventory supplies.
  8. Contribute to product evaluation, when required.
  9. Participate in trials related to new product lines, when required.
  10. Participate as a team member of Quality Management team in implementing standard operating procedures and protocols relating to patient care services.
  11. Participate in internal audits and communicate to the clinical team to improve and change practice.
  12. Develop policies and procedures relating to patient care.
  13. Develop clinical skill assessment tools and participate in the assessment of caregivers to ensure safe evidence-based care.
  14. Participate in annual budget and manpower planning and monitor spending.
  15. Provide management reports on patient care records and statistics, when required.
  16. Manage Caregivers appraisals and evaluate training needs analysis in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and the Clinical Nurse Educator.
  17. Identify issues, taking a lead role in managing complaints, review, audit process to highlight concerns regarding patient care.
  18. Participate in clinical audits as required and report to the Director of Nursing.
  19. Provide coverage when other Nurse Managers or the Director of Nursing is on leave.

OSHAD Responsibilities

  1. Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
  2. Work in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions.
  3. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  4. Notify OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assist with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
  5. Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
  6. Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
  7. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  8. Ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that any workplaces they manage or control are safe and without risks to health, safety or the environment.
  9. Ensure implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS and infection control policies and standards.
  10. Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
  11. Designate a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
  12. Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/management meetings.
  13. Ensure provision of OSH information, training and supervision.
  14. Implement and monitor the effectiveness of the risk management program.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Have evidenced experience in managing a number of departments and teams.
  2. Be able to influence and implement change when necessary.
  3. Be able to make decisions and communicate effectively.
  4. Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualifications and experience this mandates.
  5. Manage their own professional revalidation.
  6. Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months).
  7. Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed.
  8. Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
  9. Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).

Desirable

  1. Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed.
  2. Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  3. Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform for clinical documentation.
  4. Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic.
