The Mechanical Technician performs skilled mechanical work such as installing, adjusting, servicing, and repairing various mechanical equipment and mechanical parts of electrical machinery utilized in the EfW (Energy from Waste) processing and electrical generating plants. Additionally, this role provides support for overall facility operations and maintains compliance with established production schedules and plant output requirements.1.2 Job ResponsibilitiesPerform a wide variety of mechanical repairs, PMs, and fabrication, including pipefitting, rigging, assembly, and disassembly of all types of plant operation equipment, conveyors, piping, pump valves, etc.Assist with details of jobs assigned, develop, and use sketches, blueprints, and complex drawings.Consult with operations and technical groups on safety procedures and job hazards.Dismantle, overhaul, reassemble, and adjust conveyors, turbines, generators, boilers, pumps, valves, and all other auxiliary equipment.Inspect and lubricate all plant equipment routinely and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.Perform heavy lifting and rigging.Use torch and welding equipment to perform repair welding.Conduct mechanical repairs, piping, and valve packing.Perform integrity tests on piping and plant equipment.Work both inside and outside the plant area.Work at height (e.g., scaffolding and ladders).Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.The above job duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature of the work and are not intended to be an inclusive list of all responsibilities. Duties and responsibilities may change or vary depending on the specific needs of the business.1.3 Educational/Professional Qualifications/Training CertificationsDiploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certifications.HSE accredited training qualifications.1.4 Job ExperienceMust have at least 5 years as a Mechanic Technician.Ability to study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances, with knowledge of machine shop procedures, math, machinability of materials, and layout techniques.Advanced skills in coupling alignments, close tolerance fitting, valves, and high-pressure steam systems; demonstrated skills using precision measuring instruments, troubleshooting, and maintaining valves and high-pressure steam systems.Understand and use lock-out procedures; must be forklift trained and certified.Familiar with HSE standards, procedures, and requirements to control plant operations in a safe and efficient manner.Ability to operate pipe threading and milling machines for pipefitting.Possess current certification in structural steel welding for basic welding tasks.Ability to cut and fabricate advanced fabrications using oxy-acetylene techniques.Specialties include welder, machinist, pipe, and pump valve technician.1.5 Required Skills and CompetenciesSafety Focus: Comply with all health and safety regulations, safely perform work, and organize workspace to minimize the likelihood of accidents.Technical Expertise: Practical knowledge of processes and practices in own functional area.Accountability: Demonstrate a sense of responsibility and ownership of actions, assigned objectives, activities, and processes.Adaptability: Demonstrate reliability, ability to work under pressure, social competency, manage conflict, assertiveness, and a service-oriented mindset.Problem-Solving: Focus on resolving technical challenges, ensuring decisions are made based on operational directives, and generating a range of solutions with associated benefits, costs, and risks.Teamwork: Understand your role in the team, contribute to achieving team goals, develop constructive working relationships, and provide clear instruction and training to others when required.Excellent communication (read, write, and verbal) skills in the English language.
