Department Information The Renal Transplant Program at our client hospital is the largest program in the country and the region and it measures up to the top 5-10% centers in North America in terms of scope of services, quantity and quality measures. The program is the only program in the region that is heavily involved in desensitization of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) and blood group A, B and O (ABO) incompatible kidney transplantation. Additionally, pediatric kidney transplant for small children weighing less than 10 kg can only be performed at our center. The department has the following sections: Adult Transplant Nephrology Pediatric Transplant Nephrology Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Surgery Kind of procedures done in the department: Kidney transplantation Simultaneous kidney and pancreas (SPK) transplantation Pancreas after kidney (PAK) transplantation No. of procedures done: Kidney transplantation - for year 2011, 170 transplants done SPK - since 2004, 6 transplants done PAK - since 2004, 2 transplants done No. of patients seen: For year 2011, almost 10,500 patients have been seen No. of consultants: Consultant Renal Transplant Physician 4 Assistant Renal Transplant Physician 3 Consultant renal Transplant Surgeon 3 Assistant Renal Transplant Surgeon 2 Renal Transplant Fellow 3
