JOB SUMMARYThe Director - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)Program / Physician is responsible for the delivery of a high-quality evidence-based and innovative clinical service. The Director - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program /Physician identifies and articulates the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Program and develops implementation strategies to achieve them. The postholder will have specialist knowledge in pediatric Hematology and/or Oncology and/or Immunology and innovative cell and gene therapy treatments.The post holder participates and leads in divisional and interdisciplinary meetings, as required. The Director BMT Program will carry out relevant clinically focused translational innovation to improve the work of the Program, to improve existing treatment plans and/or develop/test novel and experimental treatments.KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIESIdentifies and articulates the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Program and develops implementation strategies to achieve them.Implements the clinical service strategies and business plan for the BMT Program.Scope of clinical responsibilities for Director - Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program includes but not limited to:Assesses and identifies the health needs of the specialized Hematology/Oncology/Immunology population in need of BMT.Plans, implements, and evaluates interventions to meet those needs which are appropriate to the scope of the Program and in accordance to organizational standards and accreditation requirements.Collaborates with the multidisciplinary health care team to devise treatment plans to ensure the delivery of high quality and evidence-based services that are sufficient, efficient and responsive, and designed to meet the identified patient/family care needs and organizational outcomes.Contributes to ensuring that clinical practices within the BMT program follow all applicable standards and requirements of the Joint Commission International, Qatar Ministry of Public Health, JACIE-FACT standards and all other applicable regulatory bodies.Consults and advices regarding the appropriate management of patients requiring BMT related expertise.Elicits, performs and records the history and physical examinations on assigned patients and develops a differential diagnosis for the presenting problem and implements a plan for diagnosis and management.Develops and performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per standardized protocols.Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with Sidra's professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.Develops and/or delivers training programs to new employees on procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the department's and Sidra's training objectives and plans.Is an educational resource for the Division and contributes to the education of patients, staff and physicians and other stakeholders as required.Accountable for the Program performance and regulatory compliance of the Program.Promotes leadership and direction for the development of strategies to promote the recruitment, retention, and direct mission of excellence for the medical staff, and collaborates with the Department Chief to execute the strategies.Responsible for all administrative related activities of the BMT Program unless otherwise provided by the hospital, and serves on all requested committees.Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide & support the provision of BMT services.Sets and achieves targets to drive continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided and initiates actions for necessary improvements according to Sidra Board initiatives.In conjunction with the Department Chair, ensures the implementation of robust clinical governance structures and processes to ensure patient safety.In conjunction with the Chief Research officer and other Division heads of research, ensures a program of clinical and translational research is developed, promoted and delivered within the BMT program.Is actively involved in research, graduate teaching, and publication in higher impact refereed journals, advising students and participation in academic services.Works collaboratively with other Department Chairs, Chief Officers, and Executive Directors to achieve broad Sidra objectives.Conducts other duties as may be directed by the Chief Medical Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.Develops and maintains appropriate systems of communication between Sidra and other providers of primary and advanced patient care in Qatar for the purpose of individual patient care and systemic safety and quality improvement.QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCEEducationMD, MBBS degree (or equivalent)Residency training in PediatricsSubspecialty Fellowship in BMT/ Pediatric Hematology/OncologyExperience10+ years of experience in management in a related field inclusive ofClinical experience in pediatric BMT including 5+ years' experience in clinical and academic leadership.Experience in the BMT Program, with a focus on patients' selection, treatment plans and complications management.
