PORTO Holding Group is a dynamic, growth-oriented holding company with head of operation based in Doha Qatar. The Group Investments offers a full range of capabilities in the fields of Construction (Building, Roads, Infrastructure and Swimming Pools), Real Estate, Hospitality and Facility Management Services. We are wanting to expand operations into agricultural production for livestock, agricultural, animal breeding, flower production, horses, aquaponics and hydroponics farming.
Hence, we need an **Agricultural Engineer** - with solid experience in irrigation and agricultural technologies in Qatar to support the planting, harvesting and delivery schedules of a variety of different plants including clovers, lettuce, basil and other assorted leafy greens.
This role is responsible for the following**:
- Design and manage R&D farms for the growth of various crops in a Controlled environment.
- Conduct research on the latest trends in agricultural engineering and farming aspects.
- Management of all aspects of agricultural and horticultural plant life cycle.
- Development of Project Plans and management of documentation.
- Plan, design, implement and manage Green Houses and Production Facilities.
- Management of all aspects of projects from the design and building of farms to Maintenance and after sales support.
- Analyse and translate global Agri-Tech technologies to become adaptive and tailored solutions.
- Conduct R&D to grow various plant types across different system.
- Counsel and advisory on the latest farming issues and techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all the Government Agency Regulations.
- Development of MIS Reports for review and reporting and to aid management decision making.
- **The attributes we seek for this role comprise**:
- Bachelor of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Plant Physiology or similar discipline with a Master's degree in a related field being an advantage.
- 5 years of experience working in Agriculture, horticulture or plant science and experience in growing plants in a research, pilot, and production environment is necessary.
- Knowledge of plant growing, disease prevention, pest remediation, and IPM principles.
- Experience with characterization of plants, including imaging, phenotyping, chemical analysis, and/or objective measurements of taste and texture.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with operating controlled environment agriculture systems.
- Experience working with engineers and/or software developers on growing equipment / tools and monitoring systems.
- Experienced in Food Safety and HACCP protocols.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and an aptitude for detail required.
- Advanced skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with an aptitude with statistical analysis software and/or programming being highly
**Salary**: QAR10,000.00 - QAR12,000.00 per month
