Evaluate and advise patients on the riskinvolved with having surgery.Perform surgicalprocedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities, andpatient function while adhering to regulatory and ethicalprotocols.Follow established surgical techniquesduring surgery.Prescribe preoperative andpostoperative treatments and procedures.Ensuressterility in the operating room, and all equipment andinstruments.Direct and coordinate activities ofhospital staff for proper patient care.Overseeall treatments prior to and post-surgery, and identifyingassociated risks.Maintain the highest regard forpatient dignity and observing the precepts of the American HospitalAssociations Bill of Rights for patients.Planand execute disease/illness prevention and health promotionprograms.Coordinate follow-up meetings withpatients and monitoring their health condition after surgery ortreatment.Conduct research to develop and testsurgical techniques in order to improve procedures andsurgery.
