Job Description Key Responsibilities

  1. Laboratory Management: Supervise and manage the daily operations of the geotechnical laboratory, including scheduling, workflow management, and resource allocation.
  2. Quality Control: Ensure all testing procedures comply with ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant standards. Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality management systems (QMS).
  3. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and procurement of laboratory equipment. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and meets safety standards.
  4. Staff Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of laboratory technicians and support staff. Conduct performance evaluations and provide training as needed.
  5. Testing and Analysis: Perform and supervise a variety of geotechnical tests, including soil classification, grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, permeability, and compression strength testing.
  6. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on test results and findings. Ensure accurate data entry and documentation.
  7. Client Interaction: Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical support and consultation as needed.
  8. Health and Safety: Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and conducting regular safety audits.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting.
  3. Strong knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant testing standards.
  4. Proven experience in laboratory management and staff supervision.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Proficiency in laboratory data entry software and MS Office applications.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
