Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Recycling Operations Manager to lead our footwear recycling operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recycling processes, hands-on experience with shredding machinery, and a passion for sustainability. This role involves managing all aspects of recycling operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and innovation in recycling techniques. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily recycling operations, including the collection, sorting, processing, and recycling of footwear materials.
    • Operate and maintain shredding machinery for efficient material processing.
    • Ensure all machinery, including shredders, is functioning properly and meets operational demands.
  2. Equipment Management:
    • Lead the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of shredding machines and other recycling equipment.
    • Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Manage, train, and supervise the recycling team, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
    • Promote a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement.
  4. Compliance and Sustainability:
    • Ensure all recycling activities comply with local and international environmental regulations.
    • Develop and implement sustainable practices to optimize resource recovery and minimize waste.
  5. Logistics and Inventory:
    • Manage inventory of recyclable materials and ensure efficient handling and storage.
    • Coordinate logistics for material collection, transportation, and distribution.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and clients to ensure a seamless recycling process.
    • Build strong partnerships within the footwear and recycling industries to drive innovation.
  7. Data and Reporting:
    • Monitor and analyze operational metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide detailed reports and updates to senior management.
  8. Strategic Planning:
    • Identify and implement innovative recycling methods, including advancements in shredding technology.
    • Develop strategies to enhance recycling efficiency and capacity.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in recycling operations, preferably in the footwear or manufacturing industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience operating shredding machines and other recycling equipment.
  • Strong understanding of waste management practices and sustainability principles.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of local and international environmental regulations.
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with recycling materials such as rubber and leather.
  • Proficiency in equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Certification in waste management or sustainability is an advantage.
