This position is responsible for executingpriorities to ensure all LCD and reinforcement machining work iscompleted on time and efficiently while remaining compliant withcustomer specifications with a focus on health andsafety.TheLCD & CNC Production Manager reports to the IPT3 Managerand is accountable for all aspects of LCD and reinforcement CNCmachining; including safety, quality, throughput, productivity, andother cost measures. The Production Manager must lead by exampleand will coach the IPT s hourly associates and other members ofhis/her team to establish and maintain a positive, engaged teamthrough the application of Company Principles of Conduct andAction. This individual is expected to develop high morale andmotivation of subordinates through positive leadership, sincereinterest and recognition, reliable communication, fair appraisalsof performance, and sound counseling within establishedpolicies.Thisposition is responsible for increasing production efficiency bytracking throughput, hours-per-piece, and equipment feeds/speeds.The LCD & CNC Production Manager will coordinate activitiesaccording to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards(particularly in conjunction with the Quality Pillar) whileimpacting the overall production efficiency through a systematicapproach to planning and executing new methods of machining andtechnologies to improve quality, reduce overall cost, and machinemore efficiently in collaboration with the IPT manufacturingengineer and Senior Grindingtechnician.Themanager assesses and instructs LCD and reinforcement mill blockpart production, reviewing customer orders and determining how theywill be produced. From start to finish, this position willdetermine machine capability and method of production, design, andspecialty fixtures or tools needed, provide detailed technicaldocuments and manufacturing instructions and programs usingadvanced CAD/CAM software, plan inspection method, and reportinspection to the customer using advanced metrologyequipment.Thisrole requires a collaborative leadership style and ability to workwith others; is self-motivated; able to work with minimalsupervision; possesses a skill set that will enable and drivecontinuous improvement; proven leadership abilities to coordinateall inter-IPT activities and manage production, inspection, andprogramming technicians and operators. As the Production Manager,you are expected to empower hourly associates to make decisions,innovate, and work in a continuous learning environment through theimplementation of the Continuous Improvement Framework, whichincludes the WCM tools and IPT structure. Identifying issues,making tough decisions, delegating appropriately, and following- upto ensure all objectives are achieved characterize this leadershipposition.TheLCD & CNC Production Manager will drive a cultural changewithin the IPT with an emphasis on reducing cost and improvingselects by establishing baseline metrics and implementing plans forimprovements, adjusting as necessary. This position will take ahands-on approach within the inter-IPT framework to overseeadherence to quality and procedural standards, while ensuring thatall department members are trained on and involved in all ongoingprocess modifications andimprovements.ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSLCD& Finishing Mill Production -30%Developand adopt standards that improve production efficiency, lessen partrefinishing, and improve selects. Including but not limited toapplying the full set of WCM methods and tools to identify losses,develop countermeasures, and validate the effectiveness,standardization, part selection, and scraputilization.Responsiblefor stratification of WCM manufacturing losses (quality issues andperformance losses due to man (training), method, andmachine).Assiststhe IPT Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to implement KPImonitoring (OEE, yield, quality rate, processparameters).Scheduleswork and set priorities for all Finisher Specialist operators withweekly To-Do lists for all machines. Verbally communicatesdaily.Maintainsthe part databases to ensure all pieces are up to date withcustomer orders, pieces are assigned to orders, a suitable stock offired ware is on hand to meet the needs of upcoming orders,critical spare pieces are identified; the data is accurate and fulltraceability is possible for all parts. Coordinates forming needswithIPT2.Worksclosely with IPT Manager and Reliability Engineer in thedevelopment and management of both 5S & AutonomousMaintenance Calendars, including operator standardwork.Maintainsand updates SOP s and training database as necessary to improveefficiency, quality, andsafety.Worksclosely with the IPT Reliability Engineer to keep all equipment inthe area functioning properly. Writes work requests for equipmentin need of repair, and works with maintenance to schedule repairtime around the order schedule. Communicates downtime to IPTManager.Providestechnical support to Maintenance on repairs of equipment inemergencysituations.Schedulesannual calibration ofequipment.LCD& Reinforcement Mill Block Manufacturing -20%Servesas the subject matter expert of LCD & reinforcement millblock production as well as CNC machining and equipmentuse.Responsiblefor creating manufacturing instructions for blocks in the process.This includes but is not limited to: machine/block setupinformation, sawing and grinding diagrams, manufacturing books& checklists, specification of machinery, and toolingrequired.Reviewsorders; looks for errors and checks tolerances on blueprints.Completes pre-production checklist before releasing new designs forproduction.Createsnew methods of grinding, sawing, and machining to make productionpossible on new designs. Proves new methods of machining, designingfixtures, and tooling asnecessary.Workswith Inspector to create inspection reports for newparts.Maintainsand updates SOPs and training when necessary to reflect currentmethods ofmanufacturing.Overseesmill-related projects such as special orders and internal andexternaltesting.AssistsInspector/Quality personnel with part rejects; developing CA/PA s,quick and standard Kaizens.Responsiblefor accurate BOM/Routings, updating with current production timesto ensure costing iscorrect.CNCProgramming -15%Responsiblefor writing and maintaining CNC programs to produce parts onmulti-axis CNC machines for LCD and complex reinforcement partsfrom drawing and model details using GibbsCAM software.
