Job Duties and Responsibilities

FOIA Processor are responsible for reviewing, recording, processing, and monitoring FOIA and Privacy Act requests and reporting the status. This position also includes activities related to evaluating agency policies, processes, and procedures in relation to requirements of the FOIA, the OPEN Government Act, related legislation, and Executive Orders and oversight agency guidance.  FOIA Technicians support  the USFOR-A J6 by receiving, processing, review, rework, records management, and case load management for the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) office.  The ideal candidate shall provide a case management approach that will help identify any additional elements that support and strengthen the capabilities of the USFOR-A J6 FOIA office and its ability to respond to requests.

• Intermediate knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and its amendments.

• Knowledge of legal interpretations of the FOIA as it affects exemptions and release of documents.

• Knowledge of reporting requirements under FOIA and the OPEN Government Act.

• Good communication skills demonstrated by written and oral experience, qualifications, and education.

• Processors will be addressing new requests as well as backlogged/legacy cases.

• All candidates are required to process a minimum of 5-10 cases per month depending on workload.

• The contractor is responsible for the administration (receiving, logging, tasking, case management), processing (recommending which organization to task, monitoring tasker tool for responses, redacting information), review (validate correct exemptions are applied), and recommendations for release of information to the government chain of inspection

• Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Requires Paralegal Certification and minimum of 2 years of business law experience.

Additional Qualifications

Active Secret clearance is required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools

• Must have FOIA experience

This position will be shift work - personnel will be required to work off peak hours (possibly nights and some weekends)
