Role Overview: Are you a high-performance leader passionate about sports excellence? Al-Qadsiah invites you to join our team as we embark on an exciting journey to shape the future of Saudi Arabia’s athletic talent. In this key leadership role, you will drive the performance of the nation’s most promising athletes across three targeted sports, helping them reach their fullest potential on the global stage. We are seeking an expert to join the team to help us realize the performance potential of Saudi Arabia’s most talented Taekwondo and Judo athletes. This role will be pivotal in achieving Al-Qadsiah’s ambitious medal targets for major international competitions including the Olympic Games and Senior World Championships. As part of the recently launched Al-Qadsiah Olympic Champion Project, this new role will lead the Taekwondo and Judo performance programs, which aim to achieve 2028 Olympic medal success and enable the next generation of athletes to represent Saudi Arabia at the 2032 Olympics. Key Responsibilities: Leadership

  1. Actively contribute as a member of the Multi-Sport Senior Leadership Team.
  2. Lead the delivery of the Olympic Champion Project by setting out a clear, ambitious and compelling plan of how Al-Qadsiah will enable athletes to win.
  3. Work with athletes and coaches to co-create cultural practices and uphold these at the Al-Qadsiah Training Centre and at competitions.
Performance Planning
  1. Establish a coherent and innovative planning process that meets both team and individual needs.
  2. Identify competition priorities aligned with the Olympic Games and major championship qualification and performance targets, in collaboration with program Head Coaches.
  3. Debrief performances with athletes and coaches, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  4. Support athletes, coaches and the support team to optimize competition preparation.
Coach and Athlete Development
  1. Ensure roles and responsibilities across the coaching team are clear, reflect skills and opportunities for growth, and determine optimum individual coach athlete partnerships.
  2. Facilitate collaboration and shared learning across the coaching team.
  3. Support the coaching team to continuously develop their coaching practice.
  4. Work with the coaching team to align training sessions with the developmental objectives of the athlete groups (individually and collectively).
  5. Inspire and encourage innovation in coaching practice.
Athlete Selection & Contracting
  1. Collaborate with coaches and the multi-sport team to guide athlete selection decisions and negotiate contracts that deliver individual sport strategy targets.
  2. Work with the coaching team to lead the processes for individual athlete planning and review, setting clear expectations and ensuring athlete and coach ownership.
  3. Respond to day-to-day opportunities and challenges, supporting decision making with the athlete and coach.
Training to Win
  1. Continuously improve the depth of knowledge about the likely profile of medal winners (what it takes to win).
  2. Ensure training and competition plans for each athlete include clear developmental and performance goals aligned to what it will take to win.
  3. Create training opportunities for the team that stretch athlete performance and align with the developmental goals of the Olympic Champion Project.
Knowledge & Experience:
  1. Extensive experience leading high-performance programs or teams, with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation, and athlete support.
  2. A comprehensive understanding of coaching, sports science, data, and current practice in international sport performance.
  3. Ability to manage multiple work streams.
  4. Experience in setting and communicating a performance vision and goals, establishing new practices/habits and upholding standards.
Education: Evidence of depth of study in coaching, sport science, or relatable subjects. Whilst a specific type or level of qualification is not an essential requirement, candidates will be expected to show an advanced level of subject knowledge. Qualities & Competencies:

  7. Understand and value diversity and inclusion, and care deeply about the safety and welfare of athletes.
  8. Knowledge or experience working within combat sports is desirable.
Working Conditions: This is a full-time role based at Al Khobar which will require frequent travel (including overseas); and will include weekend and evening work. Why Join Al-Qadsiah?
