Due to significant growth in the Secondary School, we offer a unique opportunity for a Design and Technology teacher to join our team in August 2025. The Secondary School offers a high quality, bespoke, International Curriculum in Grades 6, 7 and 8. In Grades 9 and 10, our students begin the High School Diploma and in Grades 11 and 12 our students can opt for the full IB Diploma or IB Courses along with the High School Diploma. About the role We are looking to appoint a Design and Technology teacher to join our amazing team who:
- Has experience in teaching Design and Technology from Grades 6 – 8 (Years 7 – 9).
- Has experience teaching Design and Technology at High School Diploma, IB Diploma Level or IGCSE equivalent level.
- Is experienced and very comfortable operating, maintaining, and managing a workshop, including the use of machines, power tools, and hand tools.
- Has a strong understanding of health and safety protocols and can ensure compliance with school and industry standards.
- Is skilled at engaging students in hands-on practical activities, including woodwork, laser cutting and 3D printing projects.
- Is proficient in guiding students through the development of design briefs and effectively teaching the design process, from initial research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and evaluation.
- Has experience using CAD software such as SketchUp, Tinkercad, or similar programs for prototyping and product development.
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape.
- A proactive mindset, ensuring students feel supported, motivated, and challenged.
- Is passionate about delivering engaging and innovative lessons in Design and Technology, with a strong commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement.
- Will be committed to the vision of igniting passion, purpose and potential in our students.
- Can contribute to the development of the Technology Department offering creative opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students at THIS.
- Has experience of planning and curriculum development.
- Adapts the curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress.
- Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement.
- Has excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents, and school leaders.
- Maintains high levels of behaviour among students, while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines.
- Is passionate about learning beyond the curriculum, with experience of leading field trips.
